Welcome to our Web site!

Our names are John and Jayne Stewart and we are Brodruggan Kennels in Sunbury Victoria Australia.  We specialise in Irish and Gordon Setters.  We are the oldest continually operating Irish kennels in Australia, being established in 1942 under the name Benlac Kennels under Jayne's father, the late Graeme Lack.  Please take the time to browse through our site.  We welcome contact from all our doggy friends, dog lovers world wide or just curious net surfers.  If you would like to learn more about the breeds we can assist you as we have a wealth of experience, breeding and showing these beautiful dogs.  There are also obviously many other sites that can give you specific information on the breeds and we invite you to research further if you wish to pursue your interest or investigate the possibility of purchasing a puppy.

Mission

To breed gundogs, specifically Irish and Gordon Setters that are true to the current internationally accepted breed type, taking into account current trends and fashions.  These animals are bred with an aim to provide companions to selected people who love these breeds and wish to show them or just enjoy them as pets and part of the family.  We aspire to breed animals of unparalleled distinction, soundness and temperament.  We attempt to ensure that at time of handover (8 weeks for local buyers, 6 months for overseas exports) the animals are happy, healthy, sound and outgoing, having been socialised in a family environment prior to your purchase.

What you are buying

As a small and strictly boutique breeder only as opposed to 'production line' breeders we are extremely selective with regards timing and purpose of any prospective  litter.   This is not a business for us, its our passion and hobby so we do not rely on puppy sales for our income.  Over the past 6 years the Kennel has exported Irish and Gordons to Finland, Italy, India and New Zealand.   Many of these animals have had success in the showrings of the world, gradually enhancing the name and reputation of Brodruggan Kennels.  When your Brodruggan Dog or Bitch arrives at your door, you will be acquiring an animal bred for beauty, soundness and temperament.   It will be the product of over 60 years of breeding experience.  Each litter is a measured stepping stone in our overall breeding program.  It will be either 8 weeks or 6 months old (depending on whether its for local or overseas buyers), completely socialised in a family environment, house trained, vet certificated, wormed, vaccinated.  If you are looking to purchase a show dog and have secured a top pick from the litter, your animal will have been selected by some of the best eyes in the business with hundreds of combined years of gundog experience scrutinising its every feature and characteristic.  You will also be sent updated pictures and video clips via the internet so that you can personally monitor its development from birth until its arrival at your door.

If you have problems or find that you are not satisfied or the puppy did not meet your expectations, we have no hesitation refunding you and attempting to relocate the animal.   We have many repeat clients so it is not in our interest to alienate anyone who has dealings with us.  This firm commitment (which will be given to you in the form of a contract on purchase of a Brodruggan animal)  is regardless of whether the animal has gone overseas or not.
