I never
thought that I would ever want to know my distant background! The
genealogy bug hit me about March of 2000. I was always afraid I
would find nothing but horse thieves and bank robbers. Once I
decided to look, I was surprised at what I found and now I can't
stop. Since I was a child, I have always loved mysteries, and this
turned out to be the biggest one of all. Please keep in mind that
this is forever in the developing phase as I uncover more, sometimes
I throw out speculation as I research. You will not find pictures of
living individuals on this page. I have a private by invite
only/password protected site for that, but you can Email me if you
are a relative and I can send you one. I will however list some past
history here and if it sounds like a connection for you…..let me
know! I have also included some links on one of my pages that I
found very helpful in internet research. These are good sources to
steer you in the right direction if you are seeking known
individuals and discover possible connections. As I started to
investigate my past, I found out how fast you start to go into many
different directions! Some of my lines are more developed that
others because I try to stay focused on the ones that start to pan
out. I do a lot of posting on bulletin boards and sometimes do not
get any response for weeks or months. The hardest thing is following
leads that take lots of time or actual trips to libraries or
courthouses. Most of our family lines started with an immigrant from
somewhere else and you end up at a brick wall in the country they
came in from. Another difficulty comes when the spelling of the name
gets changed or misspelled on a legal document. Do not despair! I
have recovered lost leads by taking this into account. This has been
a very exciting and rewarding adventure for me, I wish you great
luck on your endeavor if that is what you are doing,
otherwise…..enjoy what I have learned about myself and my past
history……...Candy Cox (Black)
