Finally some luck with litters! (June 20th, 2008)

Well we have a few litters in the box! Trance had 8, unlickily we lost 4 of them. And Buttercup had 5, 1 doa and one got out of the cage and was killed by a dog. :( BUT none the less we have BABIES! Yay!

R.I.P. Skittles

We lost Skittles to old age, she lived a long and happy life. She was the oldest bunny in our rabbitry, the 2nd bunny and 50% fault for the rabbit addict I am. She will always be remembered as the bunny that ran away and was found 1/4 of a mile from home 5 days later, also the bunny that sat on my lap and watched tv with me. We all miss you dearly my little girl!

Litters and my "Flip Feeding" method

Litters
I've had several litters, all but one litter ended up dieing, very upsetting.
Trance my French Lop had 11! They where dead when I got out there but she had them in the box, they where fed, and all cleaned up. I think what happened with her is she was overwhelmed, all in all I am proud of Trance, she did very well.
Trinity had 3 babies, 2 black otters and a Blue Silver Martin. They lived for 5 days before they died, I think that was my fault, I brought her in because the babies were cold, I won't do that again.
Lady had 2 babies, a broken black (charlie) and a Black, I was upset to find both dead, they looked stretched like Lady squeezed them through a small space.
Sundance had two babies, both Siamese Sable, she had them on the wire instead of the box. When my sister and I went out to check her, we got there just in time. We found one baby in the hair and one on the ground, both where extremely cold, so I brought them in. Within minutes the babies were warm and happy. Since Sundance already fed them we warmed them up and put them in the nest box with the hair their mom did pull. They where born on Easter Sunday. Both are happy and healthy.
Flip Feeding
I flip feed Sundance's litter, this is my method to get them fed. I will flip Sundance over and set a baby on her tummy next to a teat, they will then drink it up. It is true, mothers can cut off the supply of milk when you turn them over, but by covering their faces and massaging their bellies. I tried holding her over the babies but she ended up freaking out and injuring one of them, so I resorted to the flip feeding. Both babies are doing well, and are as active as ever.
