Please
join us in Harpers Ferry on Friday, September 23 and Saturday,
September 24 for discussions, battlefield tours and comraderie.
Anyone who is interested in learning about the battles and the men of
the Branch Lane Brigade, and who wishes to walk the ground where
these men fought is welcome to attend the BLBS Reunion. Most of the
people who attend are descendants of the men who served in the 7th,
18th, 28th, 33rd and 37th NC Regiments under Generals Branch and
Lane -- but we have several folks who attend because they have an
affinity for these men and what they accomplished. All are welcome.
The 2005 Reunion features the Brigade's role during the Siege of
Harpers Ferry and A.P. Hill's Counterattack at Sharpsburg (Antietam
Creek) in September 1862. Friday evening is an informal gathering for
discussion with light refreshments. The battlefield tours are on
Saturday morning and afternoon, and several speakers conclude the
program in the evening.
We charge a reasonable registration fee to cover NPS park admission
fees, meeting room rental and applicable speaker/tour guide travel
expenses -- after these expenses are deducted, the remainder of the
monies are donated toward battlefield preservation. The tour guides
and speakers donate their services, and in return, get to designate
which preservation project receives the donated proceeds from the
reunion.
The more people who attend the reunion, the more money we have to
donate. Last year we donated $400 to the Central Virginia
Battlefields Trust earmarked for the Adams Farm project, land that
adjoins the Brigade's position at the Battle of Spotsylvania.
This year's registration is $55. There is no charge for children 16
and under. Please see the separate postings for the Schedule and
Registration Form.
Hope to see you in Harpers Ferry!
