Formed in 1891 this league had a brief two seasons of existence. After the first season, Hurlford and Kilmarnock Athletic joined the
Ayrshire League while Burnbank and Glasgow Wanderers left to concentrated on
cup-ties and friendlies. Neilston and East Stirlingshire, who transferred
from the Scottish Alliance, were elected to make the numbers up to ten. The
Scottish League's decision to form a
Second Division in 1893 indirectly caused the Federation to close down. The
Scottish Alliance, as the senior non-League body, was used as the backbone
for the new section with Motherwell also gaining admission. Four Federation
clubs then transferred to the Alliance. With Falkirk and East Stirlingshire
entering the Midland League, and Hurlford and Kilmarnock Athletic joining the
Ayrshire League the Federation closed down. |
