Bossier Parish EMS was formed in 1993 by the Bossier Parish Police Jury in order to bring various agencies into one unified EMS system who's purpose is to serve the people of rural Bossier Parish, Louisiana.
As you can see on the map below, Bossier Parish is located in northwest Louisiana (the red shaded area) and is approximately 832 square miles in area. Of that, Bossier City (which has an EMS system provided by the City Fire Department) takes up about 45-50 square miles and Barksdale Air Force Base (who's EMS system is handled by the USAF) consists of another 32-38 square miles. The remaining 750 square miles of the Parish has an EMS system that is provided by the Paramedics and EMT's of Bossier Parish EMS.

Bossier Parish EMS operates four Advanced Life Support medic units 24 hours a day, seven days a week which are stationed throughout the parish and staffed with Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. In addition we have three reserve units that can be brought online if our front line units are busy on other emergency calls or in the event of a mass casualty incident where the resources of the front line units would not be adequate to manage the number of patients involved.
Our four front line medic units are stationed throughout the parish as to provide the fastest possible response time to the people of Bossier Parish because in a medical or traumatic emergency time is essential. The unit that covers the northern portion of the parish is Medic One, it is stationed in Plain Dealing, La and covers an area extending from Caddo Parish (to the west) to Webster Parish (to the East) and from the Arkansas State Line (to the North) to La hwy 160 (to the South). Medic Two is located in Benton, La at the Central BPEMS Office and covers the portion of the parish from Caddo Parish to Webster Parish and from La Hwy 160 (to the North) to the Bossier City Limits (to the South). Medic Three is stationed on Hwy 80 in the Haughton, La area and is responsible for covering an area extending from the Bossier City Limits (to the West) to Webster Parish (to the East). And the Southern portion of the parish is covered by Medic Four, which is stationed in Elm Grove, La and covers a district extending from the southern border of Medic Three's district (to the North) to Red River Parish (to the South) and is bordered by Caddo Parish (to the West) and by Webster & Bienville Parishes to the East.
