Who cares about baskets? These everday implements, mundane by nature, appear at first sight to have been made for a sole purpose: fulfill a basic function. This book represents the first systematic study of Iban baskets published to date and must therefore be seen as significant contribution to the general documentation and appreation of Malaysian cultural heritatge. This book also contains several hundred illustrations of baskets in variety of shapes, colour and design and by the details that set them apart, not only among the baskets from other groups but also among those from different Iban families.
