This took several weeks of part time work. I recorded this information so that it might help others find similar virus’ and maybe even save them some time. The problem was that we were being overwhelmed with the storm virus in the form of fake greeting cards. Some had malformed headers and invalid return addresses. That told me that they were likely coming from inside of our firewall and were not going through our Exchange server. Also our server was blocking the virus email, yet end users were still getting copies of it!
I ran NMAP and discovered that a computer had ports 1025 and 5000 open for some reason;

Then I checked our Sonic Wall firewall logs. There I discovered that the same computer was making a "Web management Request" about once a day. This was preceded by a TCP connection from LAN on port 7 that was denied. It was followed by a UDP packet from LAN on port 80 that was dropped. That was followed by another UDP request on port 1900 that was also dropped.
Ports 1900 and 5000 are used by a remote UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) exploit that was fixed in service pack 2. Port 1025 is used by "remote storm", the famous email virus.
McAfee, Symantec, and AVG all found nothing. At this point I started over with a new hard drive in that computer. Several days later I noticed that the virus spam log on the server had fallen almost completely silent at the exact time that I changed the hard drive in the computer.
For a second year in a row I made it to Kingdom Bound. I had hoped to make it for two days but my financial condition left me a little leary of spending the money. I have uploaded the pictures on my MySpace account under Kingdom Bound. I went on Monday and saw Casting Crowns amoung others. I kind of wanted to go on Wednesday as well to see the Newsboys too.
While experimenting with the coil gun for a youtube video I finally finished off the old power supply. I had been using a center tapped Microwave Oven Transformer (MOT) but the center tap actually burned off. Then on top of that the SCR shorted out! Now the power supply is being rebuilt with 8 x 3700 uF 400 volt capacitors. The new power supply voltage source is two microwave oven transformers. Their primaries are in series so that they only deliver about 1000 volts each. The new SCR is a block device rated at 250 amps at 1800 volts. Peak current is much higher than that. Hopefully it will be ready for testing in a few weeks.
This is the preliminary schematic, remember it does not work yet! The first things missing from the schematic is the power switch and the 8 amp fuse. Secondly there is a 1 meg ohm resistor to a meter to read the voltage on the capacitors. This circuit doubles as a bleeder to keep the capacitors at 0 volts while in storage.
In early March, 2007 my wife kicked me out again. This time I had held firm untill she put it in writing. So whatever she says this week, I have the proof of what she really said in writing. She can no longer claim that I left on my own, she was pushing me in that direction for years.
As of the first of March, 2007 I have changed jobs from Technical Services Manager at Elim Bible Institute to Manager of Information Technology at Elim Fellowship. My work has changed from supporting about 50 staff members and 200 students to supporting 25 staff members and who knows how many credential holders (around 800). MY oldest daughter managed to be the seventh caller to the Family Life Network and low and behold she won 4 tickets to Kingdom Bound 2006! I had wanted to go but at nearly $50 a person the price was a little high for us. However I was very glad we went. We listened to a lady talk about the dangers of premarital sex, she was very good. Then there was Rebecca St. James and then the Newsboys. The Newsboys did some of their older hits. I had heard the songs before but did not know they were from the Newsboys. Now I want to get the album "Shine: The hits".
I have sometimes worked on one of these machines. The frst problem was that it would not start up. The solution was to replace two of the smaller capacitors in the power supply. The next problem was the dying Wyse WY-30 terminals. It took a while to figure out that the communication rate was not the normal 9600 baud. It was 19200 baud! Then there was another problem. Hyperterminal does not have a built in terminal emulator that works with the Lanier equipment. The only solution we could find was to buy a terminal emulator program.
A friend talked me into putting myself on myspace. So far I have used the ability of uploading video's for free to upload a video of me playing with an Argon tube, and of my Jacobs ladder. I hope to get video's of my washer launcher and of my tesla coil and put them there as well. In one week I have about 8 ladies who I have never met ask to become "friends". I have discovered that equailizers are being replaced with a combination equailizer and feedback eliminator. These require a computer to set up or to see what frequencies are being attenuated. Now there is a newer device. It had a 6 by 6 crossconnect with 6 equailizers and 6 feedback eliminators all in one cabinet. I did not get the brand name but a similar device is the Driverack 480 by DBX, however it sells for nearly $3000! The Driverack has 4 inputs and 8 outputs. Some of these devices even include a limiter on each channel. That would be great for foyers and nurseries.
Recently I saw a show called "Monster Garage". I would not recomend it because of the language, but it takes cars and makes monster cars out of them. I thought it would be a great idea to have a "Monster Tech" or "Geek Garage" show! We could make Tesla coils, Jacobs ladders, washer launchers, can crushers, coin crushers, rail guns, ball lightning, microwave guns, and whatever else we could find to make. It could be a real blast!
If you check my site regularly you might have noticed that there were not many updates for a while. Sorry for the quietness, but there was a lot going on behind the scenes. For a few months I was tested beyond all known limits, and then some. It was a very hard time. If you are surprised that I am going through a hard time, I wish to point out that I have gone through many a hard time. The story of Hannah under the subject of healing is just one of many examples. Then again maybe all of our lives are just a test? You can take the blue pill and go back to sleep if you want. However if you choose to go against the flow, in your life you will have to face many incredable tests. Sometimes you have to do what you know is right even if you really want to rebell.
I asked God that, if He was pointing my life in a different direction, then I wanted a real "burning bush" experience. Well I have been burned, thoroughly toasted to be exact. However I do know that this time will never be forgotten. What new direction is my life taking? I really do not know yet. I thought I would get direction in the 2005 leadership conference, then in the 2006 church planting conference, then in the 2006 leadership conference, and then when Dennis Kramer spoke for three days of prophetic messages. Dennis did say "Word of knowledge" to me, and that is a very touchy subject right now!
I have had many "words of knowledge". I remember once many years ago when three people went forward for prayer, God told me why each was there, and what they needed to do. I told their pastor afterwards and he confirmed that the word was right on the money. I have given "words of knowledge" to people for years. One of the hardest was over a girl on a quiz team. God kept insisting on me telling her that He wanted to do great things in her life. I fought Him for what seemed like hours. Finally I told her. That week she ran off with a boyfriend never to be seen again. Was the word I gave her in error?
This year when we prayed over our graduating seniors, God gave me words for several of them. Some were quite moving and I received several comments about the words afterwards. However I am very carefull to only speak in confirmation or in further explaination of what was already been said by others.
To be honest I can think of two benifits from this time of testing. For one thing, I had at one point, lost 20 pounds. I am up to doing 25 push ups in the morning, loosing all of that weight helps! Another change is a new prayer position. I used to pray on my knees, now I pray laying on the floor, for hours. The inability to sleep has made it possible for me to get up as early as 3 AM to spend time in prayer. The last time I spent this much time in prayer was 20 years ago when I was a pastor.
I have taken Chlorella. I bought it in powder form. It works but in powder form there are problems. For one thing it tastes like concentrated spinish. For another thing if you accidently breathe it in, you will sneeze everything to a green color. It is really funny to see. Then I found something that is better and easier to use.
I have discovered a cheap over the counter way to remove heavy metals. They are called "Detox Foot Pads". You put them on your feet at night and in the morning you remove them. They go on white in color and in the morning they are black and stink. They soak up metals through the skin overnight. The run about $1 each to buy on Ebay look for "detox foot pads". I bought 10 and tried them for 5 days. It made a huge difference. I have been soldering since the age of 13, sometimes even putting the solder in my mouth when I needed a third hand. I have also renovated old houses to where my sinus' were full of the black dust. Blood tests showed no lead, but I did not believe it. I have also played with mercury and had over a dozen metal fillings at one time. Chlorella may have helped a little but not like the foot pads! Now we have ordered 100 of the foot pads, I plan on getting lots of others to try them, as well as do another round or two myself.
