Fresh
Cut Grass [2000]
| "Fresh
Cut Grass" is a feature-film directorial debut of Matthew Coppola, which
had it's world premiere at the Hamptons International Movie Festival 2000
held between October 11 - 15, 2000. The movie stars David Wike, Katy Hansz,
James McCaffrey, Dylan Bruno and Bobby Cannavale [in an unknown role].
Scoop:
This is the summer of love, confusion, and the smell of fresh cut grass,"
says drifting protagonist Zac Peace (Wike), an accomplished recent graduate.
Zac arrives at his Long Island home depressed about his father's death,
his mother's estrangement, and his own uncertain future. To pass time he
mows lawns for his mentor, Sam (McCuffrey), a former publishing genius
and current pot-smoking dropout from the rat race. Zac falls in love with
Eastern Grace (Hansz), and shares with her his deepest feelings - expressed
through letters written to his dead father. When Eastern inadvertently
alerts Sam to Zac's writing potential, she sets into motion a cycle of
events that brings an uplifting resolution to all their lives. |

Washington
Heights [2002]
| It's
an independent movie, based on an original story (and co-produced) by Manny
Perez (Ramon Rodriguez in 100 Centre Street). Stars Manny Perez, Tomas
Milian, Bobby Cannavale and Joseph Lyle Taylor.
The
story is based on life in the neighborhood of Washington Heights in New
York. Perez plays a rebellious young man who defies his father by choosing
to become a cartoonist rather than doing what is expected of him: taking
over the family bodega (grocery store).
It's
also a story of the friendship of three young men. Bobby Cannavale plays
one of these best friends. Says Manny: "We had no idea he was going to
be joining 100 Centre St. when we cast him in the movie. He was just perfect
for the part." |
