IRTC Voting Utility (winvote.exe)
For Win95 & NT
(Windows 3.1 by email request only)

WinVote greatly eases the pain of trying your best to do a good job of voting on the competition images.

The program initially only allows the user to vote on the images while viewing full size.   After all images are voted on, the sorting functions of the program are turned on.  When finished, the user can then compile a voting form and copy it to the clipboard.  Then just drop it into your e-mail program and send it to the IRTC.

WinVote works with 8, 16 & 24 bit video modes.  Due to  palette switching, the program runs a little slower with 8 bit color.  Using 16 or 24 bit color is the best way to go.

See below for a screen shot of Winvote.

You may now close the "Full Screen" view by pressing the "Esc"

button. This is useful when the image has only one pixel and
is impossible to find.

Version 1.4 Sept. 1, 1998   04:22 GMT (4 improvements)

The program now displays the thumbnails in a random order. Each voter will have a different repeating random order.  When WinVote creates its data file, the system clock will be used for the seed to determine the order.

A search function is added to the file menu on the main window. This allows locating thumbnails by searching for text strings in the artist's comments. The search is not case sensitive.

The current state of the main window is saved on exit. When WinVote is re-executed it will return to the previous thumbnail, search type, sort order, window size and screen position.

The image width and height is added to the title bar of the full-size window. With small images the complete title my not be visible. To see all of the title, just increase the width of the window.

The mouse usage is changed for selecting and viewing images.  A left mouse button click selects a new active image.   A right mouse button click selects and displays the image.   The program no longer uses double clicks.

A Windows standard close conformation dialog box with Yes, No & Cancel buttons is added.

Window functions are disabled while the thumbnails are loading.

The current ratings are added to the title bar on the full-size window.

The thumbnails automatically resequence when the sort criteria is changed.

The help file is more complete.  (Press F1 to view the help file)

The thumbnail scroll box range is expanded so that images can be selected, regardless of the main window size.

A new Seek Not Commented function is added.  This function finds the next, or previous, image with no voter comments.

The program checks to see if an image is already visible before loading it again.

Version 1.1 March 14, 1998 23:55 GMT (2 bugs fixed 1 improvement)

A line was added to the compiled voting form to indicate that is is for the Stills competition, not the animation.

I inadvertently changed the jpg file names to uppercase on the voting form, causing comments to not be recorded, they are now lowercase.  Chip Richards has also improved the IRTC software to check for uppercase.

The time to display the Full Screen view is reduced from seconds to a blink of the eye.

March 10, 1998 06:45 GMT
