About this website: Bob Confer is a columnist and essayist for the Greater Niagara Newspapers. His work has appeared weekly in the papers since July of 2005.
His columns focus mainly on issues in governance and economics.
A good many of Bob's writings are a call for common-sense at all levels of government. Bob is a strong believer in the Constitution and he writes in defense of the freedoms that our nation's forefathers had intended for us…rights that we all deserve yet rights that have been unique to our great nation. Seeing those rights continually eroded away, he is driven by the need to shrink our government and hold our elected officials more accountable, which would ultimately make America an even-greater breeding ground for personal liberty, economic freedom and universal prosperity. To that end, many of his columns focus on big government and the domino effect that it has on its citizens.
Bob often writes about the economy, taking the strange science of economics to a level that the average person can understand. His opinions and analyses are driven by his free-market attitudes and differ quite significantly from those of mainstream economists - both in academia and government - with Bob emphasizing reality more so than theory. As vice president of the family plastics business which manufactures all of its products in the United States - Confer Plastics, Inc. - he has a thorough understanding of the national and global economies in which he operates and competes.
THE ALBANY UPDATE: Catch Bob every Monday morning on Scott Leffler's "Dialog" on 1340 AM WLVL, which airs after the 11:00 AM news. For 15 minutes every week Bob provides "the Albany Update", educating the listeners on the goings-on in the New York State Capitol and how new and pending legislation will impact all New Yorkers.
