Days of Our Lives - January 2003 - Week 5

Monday

January 27
At the dorm, Belle calls up and leaves a message for Shawn. She says that she is still waiting for him. Rex waits with Belle and tries to assure her that Shawn will be here because he loves her. Belle can’t help but wonder if Shawn is with Cassie. Rex says she isn’t, and he tells her what happened with her mom, Marlena. He tells her that Cassie was hurt by MArlena’s actions tonight. Belle ends up more upset when Shawn fails to show up. Rex ends up leaving, and Belle fears that Shawn is going to break his promise to show up.

At Tuscany, Shawn tells Cassie that he did shoot and kill Collin. Cassie tells Shawn that it will be all right, but Shawn says it won’t. Shawn explains that he didn’t set out to kill Collin, and he recalls the night in question. He says he went out to the terrace looking for his mom, and he found Collin with a gun trying to kill his dad. Shawn attacked Collin, they struggled, and Shawn got Collin’s gun from him. Shawn pointed the gun at Collin, who begged him not to pull the trigger. Shawn says he was going to kill his father. Collin goes on about why Bo should be allowed to live? What makes him so special? Shawn wanted Collin to go inside and confess, but he refused and didn’t think Shawn would shoot him because his mommy and daddy wouldn’t approve. Collin egged Shawn on, calling him a coward, until Shawn shot him in the back as Collin turned to leave. Cassie confesses to Shawn that she saw what happened, and she tells him that it isn’t his fault. Shawn becomes more and more upset, and he says that his dad has been so focused on his mom that he hasn’t noticed how on edge he has been. Shawn says he wants to confess this secret, but Cassie tells him that he can’t! She says there is no evidence against him. Shawn says he dropped the gun on the terrace, and it has his fingerprints all over it, so the cops will find it sooner or later. Shawn wants to confess all, especially to Belle because he can’t lie to her again. Cassie tells Shawn that he can’t risk Belle’s future by getting her involved in this as well. Cassie says Belle will want to protect him if he tells her, and that will implicate her in the crime. Later, Rex shows up and is not happy to find Shawn with Cassie. Rex tells Shawn that Belle is waiting for him. Shawn says he knows, so Rex asks why he is here? Rex says Belle has been waiting for hours! Shawn says he’s going and leaves. Rex tells Cassie to stop trying to take Shawn away from Belle because he belongs with her. Cassie says not anymore he doesn’t! Cassie refuses to talk about this with him. Rex hates seeing her clinging to people like Marlena and Shawn who can’t give her what she needs. Cassie says what she and Shawn have is more than just love, they are destined to be together. She refuses to abandon Shawn when he needs her now more than ever.

Shawn goes to the dorms and finds Belle in tears. She is glad that he is okay though. She sees that something is wrong, and she asks if something is wrong with his grandfather or mother? Shawn says he is what is wrong. Shawn tells Belle that he loves her more than she knows, and that is why he can’t tell her or involve her. She says whatever this problem is they can work through it together. He asks her to trust her, but she says he can’t talk about trust when he can’t trust her. She knows this is about Collin’s murder because that is when his behavior changed. Shawn ends up breaking up with Belle to protect her.

At Bo and Hope’s, Bo stops Hope from making a confession. Bo thinks she is innocent, but she says he’s going to have to accept that she did it sooner or later. Bo refuses to believe that Hope is a cold blooded killer. Hope says she wants to do the right thing, and she wants to protect her children, so if she did kill Collin she wonders what else she might do. Suddenly, Abe shows up. Bo tells Hope not to mention Collin. Bo answers the door, and Abe tells Bo that they have to talk about the investigation. Bo sends Hope to take care of Zack so that he and Abe can talk. Abe tells Bo that Carson Palmer is giving them grief about not nailing the killer, and having him and Roman kicked off the case because he feels like the Brady’s are protecting one of their own. An eavesdropping Hope drops her glass out of fear. Bo and Abe see Hope on the steps, and Bo tells Hope not to worry about Carson’s suspicions because no one in this family killed Collin. Abe is paged, and has to take off. Hope thinks the DA is going to keep pushing and digging until he is lead to her! Bo says he will protect her by finding the bastard who actually killed Collin.

Out on the street, Tony’s plan goes terribly wrong. As Brady is crossing the street, the speeding car causes John to hit his breaks, and Tony leaps out in the street to save Brady. Both Brady and Tony are struck by Bart’s car, and John calls in a hit and run. Tony is able to speak, and asks how Brady is. John says he saw what happened. He says he saw what Tony did for his son. Chloe continues to cry that Brady isn’t waking up. Tony realizes that he can’t feel his legs. The sirens of ambulances are heard in the background.

At the hospital, Craig reveals that Brady is going to be fine, and that nothing is wrong with him. John and Chloe visit with Brady. Brady asks where he is? Chloe explains what happened to him. John asks Brady why he was going to meet Tony, and Brady explains. Brady doesn’t understand why Tony would save his life, especially after he downloaded an incriminating file on him. Meanwhile, Tony is told his spine has been injured, and he will need surgery to restore the use of his legs. Tony asks when they will do the surgery? Craig tells him that there is a lot to consider, and there is a possibility that he may not walk again even with surgery. Tony is devastated by the news that he could be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life. Later, Abe shows up and talks to John. John tells him what happened, and he doesn’t understand why Tony would sacrifice himself for Brady. Meanwhile, Brady learns from Craig that Tony could be paralyzed for life as a result of the accident. Back in his room, Bart shows up to explain what happened. Bart says he doesn’t know what went wrong. Tony tells Bart that no one was supposed to get hurt, he was supposed to save Brady and come out look like a hero, they would back off, and he would be able to go after Marlena. Tony says if his condition is permanent he and his inept driver will suffer, and John and the Black will pay the highest price of all! Tony signs the form and decides to undergo surgery. John comes in to see Tony and ask why he did what he did? Tony says because he is his nephew. Tony says he is as protective of his family as he is.

Tuesday

January 28
At the dorms, Rex catches Cassie spying on Shawn and Belle. In their room, Belle tells Shawn that she doesn’t understand where this desire to break up with her is coming from. Belle’s phone rings, and Shawn tells her not to answer it. She doesn’t, and they continue to argue. Belle says she doesn’t want to break up with him, and she knows this isn’t what he wants, so she asks why he’s doing this? Shawn says it is the best thing for her. Belle says that is not true, and she says she has never asked for a fairy tale life from him. Belle tells him that if he can’t be honest with her right now then she will wait for him. She also says she will be here for him. Belle checks her voicemail and gets her mom’s message about Brady. She freaks out, and Shawn says he’ll take her. Rex and Cassie learn about Tony’s accident, and they go to the hospital to.

Jack shows up at the hospital to get the story on Brady and Tony’s car accident. He talks with Sami, who had no idea about the accident. She asks if Tony is okay? Meanwhile, John meets with Marlena and explains what happened with Brady and Tony, and how Tony may be paralyzed. Marlena thinks Brady was trying to emulate his father. Meanwhile, Lexie shows up at the hospital and looks at Tony’s chart to see what is going on. She makes a face, and Tony knows it isn’t good. Tony says he never imagined he’d have to carry on the DiMera legacy from a wheelchair. Lexie goes out into the waiting room, and Marlena comforts her. She tells her that she has had so many blessings in her life recently, so perhaps Tony will be okay. Lexie says she has just lost so much this year already, and this is just too much to bear. John says he knows the feeling. Marlena excuses herself to call Belle and let her know about the accident.

Brady goes to see Tony and thanks him for what he did. Tony says he has something that he’d like to say to Brady. Tony says that what he downloaded was an investment document, not a hostile takeover. He says he was trying to make the investment without John knowing. Tony says like Brady, his family means so much to him. Brady tries to give Tony hope and says he was paralyzed for a while from a gunshot wound, so things can work out for him. Brady says he is in debt to him, and will pray for him to make a full recovery. After Brady leaves, Tony says if he doesn’t make a full recovery then Brady will pay the debt off with interest!

Belle shows up and is relieved to learn that Brady is okay. John tells her that Marlena said in the message that he was okay, but Belle says she didn’t listen to the whole message. Brady tells her that she looks stressed out, and asks if she pulled an all nighter? She says she did.

Sami talks to Marlena about Tony and asks how he is. Marlena says that he might be paralyzed. Marlena and Sami talk about Tony. Marlena says Tony is not friend material. Sami says she seems to be hanging out with Tony and those freaky aliens a lot. Marlena can’t believe Sami’s harsh words, and she also can’t believe Sami has expressed no concern for Brady. Sami says Brady wouldn’t show concern for her, and she says Tony has been nothing but nice to her. Suddenly, Sami gets a call from the blood bank saying that Tony needs blood donated, and he has some mutant blood type so he needs family to donate. She says his family is right here, and then passes the message onto them. John asks for Tony’s blood type, but Sami says it is confidential. John tricks Sami into looking the other way so he can grab the folder she is holding , and reads that Tony’s blood type is OH Bombay. Sami asks if that is John’s blood type? Marlena says no, but it is the twins! Actually it turns out that it is only Cassie’s blood type, because she and Rex aren’t identical they have different types. John begins to wonder if Tony is the twin’s father. Marlena says it would explain a lot. Lexie says if Tony is their father then he has no idea. She says what matters right now is giving blood to Tony. Lexie says she is not a match, and John says neither is he. Lexie thinks Cassie is the only one who can help Tony. Marlena says she is extremely needle-phobic. Lexie asks Marlena to talk to Cassie. Marlena says Cassie is unhappy with her right now, but she’ll see what she can do.

The twins go to see Tony. Cassie says she can’t believe he didn’t tell them that he was here because he is the only one who cares about them. Tony says that is not true, they have Shawn and Belle, as well as Marlena. Rex and Cassie tell him that Marlena doesn’t want to be a mother to them. Tony tells them that he will see that they get the family they want, he swears on his father’s ashes. Later, a nurse tells Tony that his doctor needs to consult with a hematologist before surgery.

Cassie continues to be nasty to Belle, and Rex scolds her. Cassie thinks that Belle doesn’t want her around. Rex says Belle isn’t stupid, she knows she likes her boyfriend. Cassie says this just isn’t a crush, she is taking a big risk to help Shawn. Meanwhile, Brady gets ready to go home, and Belle agrees to help him pack and head home. Brady asks Belle what is wrong with her? He has sensed uncomfortable vibes between her and Shawn. Belle says that Shawn wants some space. Brady threatens to kick Shawn’s ass, but Belle says that won’t help. Belle says that Shawn is just going through a difficult time right now, but Brady says bull! Elsewhere, Shawn continues to be haunted by memories of shooting Collin. Cassie talks to Shawn, and she tells him that they are in this together.

Belle and Brady run into Marlena, John, and Lexie. They talk about Tony’s blood type and how Cassie could be a donor. Lexie decides to go see Tony, and Sami asks her to give Tony her best. Lexie doesn’t think Sami gives a damn about her brother. Sami tells Lexie to lay off her if she knows what is best for her! Lexie leaves, and Sami vows to protect Brandon from Lexie and from being implicated in Collin’s murder. Meanwhile, Marlena goes to talk to Cassie about donating blood for Tony. Rex goes with Cassie to talk to Marlena. Marlena explains to them about the blood match, and that it is possible but not certain that Tony is their father. Cassie asks about their mother, but Marlena says there is no way to know now. Cassie thinks if she gives Tony her blood then he will care about her forever. Marlena says that Tony cares about her now. Cassie agrees to give blood, but only if Marlena does it, because she knows Marlena doesn’t care about hurting her. Meanwhile, John talks with Brady and says he doesn’t care what line of bull Tony gave him about investing in Basic Black, Tony is dangerous. John says Tony obviously turned a Brady cousin, Collin, bad; and then put a hit out on him. Belle and Brady decide to head out, and Shawn tells Belle that he’s going to stay here for a while longer. Later, John questions Lexie about the blood type and learns that just because neither of them don’t have it, that doesn’t mean they aren’t related to the twins. She says this blood type is recessive and is triggered by two parents genes. Elsewhere, Marlena walks Cassie through the blood donating process. Rex watches Marlena with Cassie and can see how much she cares for her. John walks in and sees this as well.

Meanwhile, Jack makes some calls to the Spectator about the story and learns Jen is home with the flu. Jack heads home to take care of Jen. He brings her some ginger ale, and begins to ask her how she feels. Jen thinks she isn’t really sick, she just feels that she overindulged herself at Gran’s party.

Wednesday

January 29
At the hospital, Sami overhears Lexie planning to do research on herself to see if she and Tony have the same blood marker. Brenda goes to pull up the file on Lexie, and Sami panics and tells her not to pull up the file. Sami says she is working on a project on that computer and doesn’t want it ruined. Brenda says she’ll save whatever she is working on, so relax! Brenda goes to get Lexie what she needs. Brandon shows up and tells Lexie that he’s sorry to hear about Tony. Sami does everything she can to drag Brandon away from Lexie. She says she has something to tell him in private, and tries to drag him off. Brandon asks her what she is doing, and Lexie warns Brandon to watch it because Sami is going to watchdog him until he has no friends left. Sami then blurts out that it is because of what they did that she is like this. LExie asks what she is talking about? Sami says she knows what they did, and she knows what happened because of it! Whoops! Sami realizes she slipped up. Brandon tells her that she is out of control! LExie wants to know what she is talking about, so Sami makes up this story that she knows they had a fight about Abe and the baby, and she doesn’t understand how she can be friends with a man who hates her husband. LExie says Brandon is her friend and has always stood by her, and Abe respects her enough to respect their friendship. LExie ends up saying she hates seeing her best friend with a slut for a girlfriend! They almost get into a huge fight, but Brandon stops them because they are in the hospital. Brandon drags Sami off and asks what has gotten into her. He says she promised that she would not let it slip that he slept with LExie. Brandon says she could destroy LExie’s marriage and their baby’s future. Sami asks Brandon to stop concentrating on Lexie and start concentrating on them for a change. Brandon ends up telling Sami that he is tired of this war between her and Lexie, and it has to stop. Brandon doesn’t understand why Sami doesn’t believe him when he says that he won’t let anyone or anything get in the way of their future. Sami apologizes for letting her insecurities get the best of her, and she says she is sorry for blowing her New Years resolution and making him mad. He asks her to please stop obsessing about him and Lexie and what happened between them. She says she will try. As they hug, both Sami and Brandon say they are keeping secrets. We know Sami’s, but Brandon says there is a reason he must stay close to LExie’s baby.

In her office, Marlena meets John with some answers about the twins and who their parents might be. Marlena tells John that she’s felt more emotionally connected to the twins then she’s been willing to admit. She says she has done some research to determine if she is Rex and Cassie’s mother. They talk about the possibility, and Marlena tells John about some of the memories she’s been having. She tells him about the sense of loss she’s been feeling, and she didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to add to the pain he was going through over finding out about Tony. MArlena begins describing her dreams of nursery rhymes, and how she at first thought she was missing Sami and Eric. However, now she thinks it is more. Marlena says she ran some tests for answers to try and prove she and tony couldn’t be the twins’ parents, but the results prove the opposite. She says it is possible for her and Tony to be the twins’ parents. MArlena asks John if she is the twins’ mother, can he handle that? John thinks if they can survive the news about Tony then they can survive anything. However, he says that he can’t feel the same way about the twins she does, even if they are hers. Marlena admits she is scared, and she says there is a possibility that Stefano could be the father if Tony isn’t. John tells her to settle down, and he promises that they will get to the truth. John says until they know the truth they have to be careful with their dealings with the twins. John says they need to start by revisiting the island for answers.

In a cubicle, Rex gives Cassie some juice, and he says he is proud of her. Shawn comes in to check on how Cassie is feeling. Tony has gone in for surgery, and Cassie asks Rex to go find them some breakfast and magazines. Rex tells Cassie to behave herself and leaves. Shawn tells Cassie that Belle is gone, and that they need to talk. Shawn says he can’t ask her to keep this secret, but she says she wants to do this. Cassie gets agitated and stands up, and then faints into Shawn’s arms. Shawn helps her back into bed, and she says she just got up too fast. They continue talking about the murder, and shawn says the whole department is convinced that Tony is guilty. Shawn says that is why he has to confess, and why he can’t ask her to protect him. Cassie says Tony says he’s always blamed for everything, and he’s always found innocent. She also tells him that he can’t confess. He says he can’t keep hurting people the way he has, like Belle. Cassie asks if he broke up with Belle? Shawn says he tried but she won’t let him unless he can tell her that he doesn’t love her. Shawn says he’s going to go confess, and leaves. Rex returns, and he stops Cassie from running off to stop Shawn. He says she needs to get better, and he wants to know what has her so freaked. Cassie says nothing, and that everything is going right. She says not only are they Dimeras, but they can both have what they want, Belle and Shawn. Rex says that won’t happen, and that any number of people in the world could have the blood markers she does. Cassie knows they are a family, and Lexie, who has just walked in, is part of their family. Lexie says she can’t think about them being related to Tony right now because she’s too focused on Tony. They ask Lexie about her history with Tony. Lexie says she and tony actually didn’t know they were related at all for a long time. Rex asks her how she found out that she was a DiMera? She explains the story, and how at first she wasn’t pleased to learn she was a DiMera. However, she says she learned to try and get along with everyone. She says if they are DiMeras, then they are related to John and Belle. Cassie says Rex doesn’t want that because he likes Belle in a girlfriend kind of way. Lexie leaves, but not before saying it would be great if the were family. Cassie tells rex if they were DiMeras then belle will be off limits to him. He says she is already off limits, but Cassie says she won’t be for long. Rex tells Cassie to stop this, but Cassie says Shawn is her true love. She admits if she couldn’t be with Shawn because he was family then she would be devastated. Meanwhile, Lexie learns she doesn’t share the marker with Tony, and later it is announced that Tony is out of surgery.

At Bo and Hope’s, Bo searches the place for Hope. Hope is out in her car panicking once again. She thinks she needs to go to the station and confess to killing Collin. Bo finds Hope in the car, and she tells him that she has to go confess. Bo says he can’t let her confess alone, but Hope says if he is with her then Abe will know he tried to cover it up. Bo gets Hope back in the house and tells her that before she confesses they have to be absolutely clear about this. Hope says she knows she would have done anything to stop Collin that night. Still, Bo feels that she didn’t do it. Bo says he believes that the killer is someone that they haven’t considered yet. HE thinks the killer is someone who would let someone like her or Jack take the rap for this. Bo asks Hope not to do anything until she has all the pieces of that night back and in place. Zack begins to cry, so Bo asks her to take care of him while he starts breakfast. Shawn returns home, and Bo begins to notice something is bothering Shawn. Shawn wants to confess to his dad, and even comes close to trying. He says he has something to tell him about the night that Collin was killed. Bo asks him what he has to tell him? As they begin to talk about how Shawn couldn’t’ find his mom that night, Hope bursts in and asks what they are doing? Hope says she thought they weren’t going to talk about this? Shawn asks “not talk about what?” Hope says they are talking about her visions of Larry again, and that night. Shawn says he already knows about that. Hope gets rid of Shawn so she can talk to Bo alone, and she tells him that she doesn’t want Shawn to know about her possibly shooting Collin. Upstairs, Shawn talks with zack and basically says goodbye to him, and apologizes for letting him down. Shawn goes downstairs and tells his parents that he and Belle have decided to cool it for awhile. Bo asks Shawn what he wanted to tell him about the night of the murder? Shawn says that is when their problems started. Hope thinks there is more, but Shawn says he can’t talk about this and runs out of the house. Shawn tells himself that he can’t confess with his mom there, he can’t let her know that her son is a murderer. Back in the house, Hope is glad that Shawn doesn’t know she is the murdered. Bo tells her to stop saying that because it isn’t true.

Thursday

January 30
At the hospital, Lexie and the twins visit Tony after his surgery. Tony is puzzled when Cassie calls him dad. He asks her why she called her dad? Cassie tells him about the blood type, and she believes they are related. Rex and Lexie try and diffuse the situation, and Lexie says they may be DiMeras, but that doesn’t mean they are Tony’s children. Tony asks for some time alone with Cassie and Rex. Tony tells the twins about the key his father left him, and he says he knows that they are his past and his future. Tony says he saw something in their eyes and he couldn’t place it until now. Tony says he saw himself. Cassie says they will make him proud. Tony knows that Rex doesn’t share his sister’s belief. Rex says he thinks Cassie is jumping to conclusion, and so is Tony. He says Stefano marked his belongings with these tattoos, and he believes it is highly unlikely that they are related. Tony tells him that it is okay, but in time they will become a true family.

In Marlena’s office, John says he will make all the arrangements for a trip back to the island. He asks Marlena, in the mean time, not to tell anyone that she suspects she is the twins’ mother. Belle shows up to talk to her mom about Shawn. Belle thinks she is losing Shawn. Belle tells her mom that Shawn wants to break up with her, but he won’t say why other than to protect her. Belle says she doesn’t need Shawn to protect her, and she will wait for him. Marlena tells Belle that she needs to protect herself. She tells Belle to let Shawn work out what he needs to work out, because if she gets wrapped up in his problems then she will do more damage. Marlena tells Belle to trust that Shawn will find his way back to her after solving his problems.

John meets with Lexie, and Lexie tells John that Cassie is convinced that Tony is his father. John says it could be possible. John says Stefano could have made the twins using Tony’s DNA to populate the world with perfect DiMeras. John goes to see Tony and finds him with the twins. Tony asks John to come in and join his “children.” John tells him that he’s been unearthing a lot of long lost relatives lately. John asks where the twins were conceived? Tony says he doesn’t know? John asks why Stefano would keep him in the dark, and why would he experiment on his own children. Cassie tells John not to upset Tony right now because he needs his rest. Tony says he will be fine, and he asks to speak to John alone. The twins leave, and John asks Tony if he is the twins’ father, then who is their mother? Tony says he doesn’t know who she is, and he just wants to focus on his relationship with his children. John doesn’t believe that, and he knows Tony wants a mother to the twins. John tells Tony to give it up because Marlena will not be a part of his newly created family. Tony says he doesn’t want Marlena involved, the twins don’t need her after all. Tony thinks the twins are his, and he says he does not need anyone else to help him take care of his own children.

Meanwhile, Lexie tries to convince Cassie that her and Tony need to slow down with this father-daughter thing. Lexie says they should get more proof, but Cassie says they have enough proof. Lexie says when they want something to be true, they see signs and omens that make it seem true. Cassie says she needs her father, and she begs Lexie not to take him away from her.

At Bo and Hope’s, Bo takes off to get to work finding Collin’s killer. Shawn shows up and scares his mother. She asks Shawn to please take her to the hospital. Shawn asks her if she’s sick? Hope says she is still seeing Larry Welch, and she hears the horrible things he says. She begs Shawn take her to Marlena right now!

Nicole is sitting on the balcony of the mansion drinking. Victor finds her and asks why she didn’t show up for work. Nicole says she has decided to take the day off. Victor says this is the first time she’s been out here since Collin was murdered. Nicole says she has decided to make peace with the whole thing. Victor asks if the booze has helped her make peace with what she did to Collin? Nicole is sick of Victor antagonizing her over this. Nicole continues to hit the bottle, and she says they should stop playing this game because neither one of them have confessed. Bo walks in and asks what they haven’t confessed to? Victor says it’s not a confession, more of a realization that the honeymoon is over. Nicole goes to drink some more, and Bo asks Victor to question his staff about the night of the murder. Bo wants to talk to Victor’s driver. Victor says his driver didn’t tell the police certain things about that night out of loyalty to him and his family. Bo asks like what? Victor says that Davis, his driver, said Hope was acting strange that night. Victor says Hope was avoiding looking at Davis, and she just wanted to go home because she said she wasn’t feeling well. Bo is relieved, and tells Victor that Hope is suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome from the kidnapping. Victor thinks there is more and asks Bo to tell him what is going on. Bo says he can’t talk about it right now. Bo leaves, and later, Nicole has another memory about the night of the murder. Victor says something to her which makes her think that Victor knows more about that night and her involvement than he is letting on.

Hope goes to the hospital and interrupts Belle and Marlena’s talk. Belle says it is okay, and she leaves. Hope tells Marlena that she is in trouble and she hopes that Marlena can help her. Hope tells Marlena about her blackouts, and how she fears she may have done horrible things during them. Hope comes close to confessing that she killed Collin. Marlena ends up having her own memory flash of singing the lullaby. Hope asks Marlena what is wrong? Marlena says it is nothing, and she asks Hope what she is afraid of that will destroy her life? Hope once again begins to confess to Marlena. She says that night, the night of the wedding, she continued to see Larry. She says she tried to forget about him, and the next thing she knew she was on her way home.

Belle runs into Shawn in the hallway. Belle asks Shawn if he wants to go get a cup of coffee? Shawn says no. Belle hates watching Shawn suffer and not being able to comfort him. She says she wants him to talk to her, but he says he can’t do that. Belle runs off, and Rex shows up and asks Shawn why he’s hurting Belle like this? Shawn says he and Belle can’t be together anymore. He asks Rex to stick by Belle and to help her forget him. Rex says he won’t do that.

Meanwhile, Cassie finds Belle in tears and tells her that she and Tony are family. She asks belle if she isn’t happy? Belle says she can’t talk about this right now. Belle ends up running into Rex’s arms for support.

Bo calls Shawn and asks where his mother is? Shawn says she is with Marlena. Bo worries and rushes to the hospital to try and stop Hope from confessing to Marlena. He gets there right in time, bursts into Marlena’s office, and asks Hope not to do it! Hope says she is having a session, but Bo says he needs to talk to her. Marlena says they can pick this up another day. Marlena writes Hope a prescription for some anti-anxiety pills, and then she leaves. Hope tells Bo that things are getting worse for her, and they can trust Marlena. Bo says doctor-patient confidentiality can be waved, and he tells Hope that she can’t tell anyone. Bo promises Hope that he won’t give up until he nails the person who killed Collin. Shawn overhears this.

John goes to see Marlena and says Tony is convinced that the twins are his, that he will raise them as DiMeras, and that he doesn’t want her involved with them in any way. John thinks they need to go back to the island now, but Marlena says she can’t leave the twins alone in Tony’s care.
