At the hospital, Tony uses a specialist to try and convince Craig to release him, but Craig isn’t ready to release Tony. The specialist says he will take full responsibility for Tony’s rehab. Craig and the doctor go off to talk, and Tony talks with Rex. Tony says he is worried about Rex, but Rex says Cassie is who he should worry about because she still thinks this fairy tale family is going to come true. Rex says Cassie is desperate for parents and a family, and this want has made her reckless. Tony says he will give him and Cassie the family they want and need, and that they can count on the DiMeras. Rex says the DiMera’s locked them up and made them freaks! Tony says that they are not freaks, and he will try to make right his father’s wrongs and give them the life that they deserve. Rex ends up leaving, and Tony’s specialist comes back and says Dr. Wesley insists he stays in the hospital. Tony says they both know that he is far better off recuperating at home. Later, Tony tells Craig that he is going to leave the hospital and there is nothing he can do or say to stop him. Craig wants to go on record that he is against this. Tony then gets a call alerting him to that John and Marlena are back at the compound.
Belle meets up with Cassie at the hospital and offers her a ride back to the dorm, and to give them a chance to talk about Shawn. They head to the dorms, and Belle talks with Cassie about Shawn’s problems. She asks Cassie to respect Shawn and give him space so he can sort through his problems. Cassie realizes Belle doesn’t want her to see Shawn while she is away. Belle says she would never tell her to stop seeing Shawn. Cassie says she will not abandon Shawn, she will not leave him like she is! Belle has had it and tells Cassie that she has had a crush on Shawn since the night they gave them CPR, when she experienced what felt like a kiss. Cassie tells Belle that what she feels for Shawn isn’t a crush, at least not anymore. She says she and Shawn have grown closer, more like best friends, and they share things. Belle asks if she knows what Shawn is going through right now? Cassie says he has told her about his problem. Belle is hurt, and asks to be left alone. Belle cries over a picture of Shawn. Later, Rex shows up and she opens up to him. Belle says Shawn can’t tell her what is wrong, but he can tell Cassie. Belle says soon she’ll be thousands of miles away, and he won’t have to worry about protecting her anymore.
At Basic Black, Kate wakes up and finds Roman sitting across from her desk watching her. They are still locked in John’s office, and Roman refuses to let her out until she tells him about her relationship with Stefano. She wishes he would just leave her alone, but Roman says she is stuck with him for the time being. Kate is sick of this game, and she says she knows this is just a game. She knows he isn’t interested in her, he only wants to know about her connection to Stefano. Roman admits that at first that is what it was about, but it didn’t take long for him to fall for her. Roman says he cares for her a lot, and he wants to help her. He hates seeing her being sucked into Tony’s world, and he doesn’t want to see another DiMera hurt her. Kate tells Roman that he is the only person who can hurt her now! Roman says he cares about her, but Kate says she doesn’t believe that. Kate thinks that Roman has just used her, and Roman says Marlena sure was wrong about her. Kate can’t believe Roman talked to Marlena about them, and she accuses him of trying to make Marlena jealous. Roman says he and Marlena’s love is in the past, and she is the woman he wants. Kate says he doesn’t want her, he is just using her to get what he really wants! Roman says it kills him to see her hurting like this. She asks him to leave her alone, so he says he will. However, he says he isn’t giving up on her. Roman hopes she will be able to trust him one day.
Shawn shows up at the station, per his dad’s request, and he sees a board of suspect’s names. He sees his name and Belle’s on the board, and he flashes back to the killing. Bo shows up, and Shawn asks him what he wanted? Bo says he wanted to talk without his mom around. He tells Shawn about the bloody towel, and asks him if he knew about it at all, or saw anyone drop it in their garbage. Shawn says no, and he wants to know what his dad isn’t telling him. He says it is no big deal, Hope is just having some memory problems and is misplacing things. Bo says he is trying to help Hope, and she is getting better and better every day, but he can’t be there as much as he’d like to be. Shawn suggests his dad take himself off this case so he can help Hope out more. Bo says that he can’t do that, and they get into an argument. Shawn asks his dad why he cares who killed Collin, he didn’t even like the guy. Bo says it is his job to find this killer and put him or her away. Shawn continues to freak out, and he ends up saying he has to leave. Bo asks Shawn if he wants to talk about something? Shawn says no, and races off. Shawn ends up getting a call from Cassie, and she freaks when she learns he is at the station. He says it is fine, but he is really freaking out. Shawn says he needs to tell someone soon. Cassie tells Shawn to come to the dorms and pick her up because she will help him.
Hope comes home from a jog, and she is followed by Larry. Larry breaks in and switches Hope’s medicine. Hope returns and finds that there are more pills in her bottle than before. She also sees the door is open. When she goes to close it, Larry is there. Hope tells Larry that she will fight him and get rid of him! Larry says the only thing that will get rid of him is for her to confess to Collin’s murder. Hope refuses to listen to this, and reaches out to grab Larry. He ends up running off. Hope doesn’t think she needs her pills anymore because she faced Larry on her own. She then realizes something was different about Larry this time, he just didn’t fade away, he ran! Hope throws her pulls in the dumpster and takes off.
Shawn and Cassie end up at Bo and Hope’s house to check on Hope. Hope, however, is gone. Shawn talks to Cassie about Hope and her problems. Later they found Hope’s discarded prescription. Cassie realizes Shawn needs those pills for his anxiety.
Meanwhile, Hope goes to the station and tells Bo about her latest “vision” of Larry, and how he seemed really real this time. Hope says she went to make him disappear, but instead of disappearing he turned and ran! Hope says this time it scared her because she didn’t think it was all in her head! Bo begins to wonder if Larry is really alive.
At Jack and Jen's, Jen gets ready to take her pregnancy test, but before she can open it, Abby runs into the room. She is glad to see that her dad is still here. She asks if he is moving back home, and he says that he is. Jack tells Abby that he's never leaving her or her mother again, no matter what happens. Later, over breakfast, Jen tells Jack about how Abby is excelling in writing and poetry in school. Jen tells Jack that she takes after him. Jack says she is a good writer as well, but Jen says he is the wordsmith, she can just put an article together. Jack tells Jen that Abby is also kind, courageous, and strong like her mother. Jen says she's not feeling very courageous right now. They talk more about Abby, and she has always wanted them back together, and a little brother or sister. Jen wonders how they will tell her if she is pregnant? Jack says they'll figure that out together. Jen decides to take the pregnancy test. She goes upstairs, and later comes down with the test. She tells Jack that the test is negative. Jack and Jen are overjoyed by the news. Jen then gets a call from Bo asking her for her help. Bo tells Jen about the towel, and how he thinks Larry Welch is still alive and is haunting Hope. Jen is stunned, and Jack asks her what is wrong? Jen tells Jack what is going on with Hope, Collin's murder, and that Larry is possibly alive. Jen tells Jack that nobody can no about this, it cannot go to print. Jack knows and he says they must protect the family. Jen hugs Jack and tells him that she loves him.
At the station, Bo begins to wonder if Larry could be alive. Hope asks Bo what is bothering him? Bo says he is just thinking about a case he's working on, and that he should get back to it. He tells Hope to go home and put her feet up. She says she'll let him get back to work and head out. Bo wants one of the officers to drive her home because of the medicine she is on, but Hope says she's not taking it anymore. She doesn't want to argue about it, and he still insists the officer drive her home. She says okay. After Hope leaves, Bo makes a call and orders around the clock protection for his family. However, he later learns that the officer who dropped Hope off left her there alone with Shawn. Bo races out of the station.
Outside Bo and Hope's, Shawn finds his mom's discarded pills. Cassie asks what the pills are for, and he tells her. Larry spies on them as they look at the pills, and he realizes Hope threw them out. Cassie tells Shawn that maybe he should take them because they may make him feel better. Shawn says the pills aren't for him, but she says that doesn't matter. Shawn says these pills won't change the fact that he killed someone. Cassie wishes she could help Shawn, but she knows she can't because she is not Belle. Cassie asks Shawn if he regrets not confiding in her? Shawn says all he cares about is that the people he loves are safe, and he wants to know why his mom threw out the medicine. Hope returns home, and Shawn asks her about the medicine? Hope says she threw it out because she doesn't need it anymore. Hope tells Shawn that everything will work out. A spying Larry continues to plot against Hope and her family. Hope goes inside, and Shawn stays outside with Cassie. Cassie continues to try and get Shawn to take the pills, and he lashes out at her. He apologizes, and says that nothing helps him, and a pill won't take away what he did. He says he is the reason that another man is dead. Bo shows up and asks what he means by that? Shawn thinks quick and says he feels that he and Belle are responsible for Collin's death because if they had seen something earlier that night when they were on the terrace than he might have been able to stop Collin's murder. Shawn knows it is stupid, and he says he's just been freaked out ever since mom's kidnapping. Bo asks Cassie to excuse them, and he talks with Shawn about the possibility that Larry is still alive. Bo says he's hired some undercover cops to guard the house, and he says he will catch Larry. Bo walks off, and Shawn looks at the pills.
Inside, Hope makes some tea, but sees something outside that causes her to drop her mug. She has a flashback to Collin's body, and a spying Larry says it looks like Hope is going over the edge without the pills. Hope wishes she could remember what happened. Suddenly, she looks up to find Cassie standing there. Cassie asks Hope what she wishes she could remember? Cassie apologizes for intruding, and then she notices the broken glass on the floor. Hope says she meant to clean that up. Cassie helps Hope clean up, and eventually leaves after getting some water for her and Shawn. Hope begins to try and figure out what part of her memories are real, and what parts were in her head. Later, Hope falls asleep and has a nightmare about killing Larry and Collin. She also sees, through a window, someone pointing a gun, and she says Shawn's name!
Cassie goes back to Shawn, who blows up yet again. Shawn says his mom isn't safe, it is all happening again, and he doesn't know what to do. Cassie begs Shawn to just take a pill. He does as Cassie asks and downs one of the pills.
Meanwhile, Bo finds another matchbook from the Dew Drop Inn, the place Larry is staying. Back at the Dew Drop Inn, Larry has returned to his room and is furious that Hope has thrown away her pills and that damn Alien Barbie has convinced Shawn to take the pills. Later, we see Bo breaking down the door to a room at the Dew Drop Inn.
At the dorms, Belle is packing for Paris when Cassie and Shawn show up. Cassie gives Shawn and Belle some time alone. Shawn gets a phone call from his dad, and the pills begin to take their effect on Shawn, who becomes more agitated. Belle leaves Shawn to talk to his dad. Bo tells his dad that he’s found more evidence that Larry is alive. Shawn says he’s going to kill him, but Bo says that this is a police matter. Shawn ends up hanging up on his dad, and he goes into a rage. Shawn punches his hand through a window! Belle hears the glass break, returns, and asks him why he did that? Shawn says things are bad, really bad. Belle demands he go to the hospital, and she forces him when she threatens to call 911 if he won’t go with her. Belle takes Shawn to the hospital, and she asks Cassie to call housekeeping and have their window fixed.
Nicole comes to the hospital for a check-up, and she runs into Brandon. Nicole is suffering from a major hangover. They go out on the terrace, and Brandon lectures Nicole on the mess she has made of her life. Nicole says her life is great, a dream come true! Brandon presses Nicole, and he wants to know why things are strained between her and Victor. Nicole says Victor knows she cheated on him with Collin. Brandon can’t believe this, and he asks Nicole if she killed Collin to cover things up? Nicole can’t believe he suspects her of killing collin, and they get into an argument. Nicole says her life isn’t any more screwed up than his, but the difference is she has the guts to admit that it was their lousy parents who left them with messed up lives. Nicole tells him that is why he’s with Sami, Salem’s resident psychopath. Nicole then tells him that he should run far from her! Brandon says they are talking about her, and he asks her if she is any danger from Victor. Nicole says not as long as they stay married. Brandon asks what would happen if she left Victor? She says he would never hurt her because he loves her. Brandon then asks if she was investigated by the cops for the murder, would they find anything? Kate interrupts them before Nicole answers. She needs the terrace to make a cell-phone call. They leave, and Kate calls Roman. Kate tells him that they need to talk right away.
Lucas shows up to see Sami, and he reveals that he is her new boss! Sami says he is not her boss, but Lucas says he is in charge of the entire hospital clerical staff as head of the Horton Foundation. Sami refuses to take orders from Lucas. Kate shows up and tells Sami not to talk to her new boss like that! Kate then demands Sami give her Marlena’s number, but Sami says she doesn’t know where Marlena is. Lucas and Sami begin to argue, and Brenda tells Mr. Roberts that if Sami is causing problems for him then she will be happy to file a complaint for him. Sami gives, and she asks Lucas what he wants her to do. He gives her a huge list of patient files to pull for him.
Brady takes Chloe to the hospital for more check-up and tests. Chloe is once again in a depressed mood, thinking that nothing will work out for her. Brady cheers her up, and they decide to work on her list of things to do before she goes back into the hospital. Later, Belle and Shawn show up. Shawn goes with Craig, and Chloe talks with Belle. Belle says she is worried about Shawn, but she’s not going to be able to be here for him because she’s going to Paris. Belle walks off to be alone, and she ends up running into Sami. Sami is in tears, and she and Belle talk. Sami tells Belle that she and Brandon had a fight and he is taking a time out. Sami tells Belle that she was right before, she has messed up every relationship she has been in. Sami says Brandon is talking with his sister right now, and she decides to go spy on them and find out what they are saying. Belle stops Sami from going to spy on them, and they continue to talk about their boy problems. Sami tells Belle she is making a mistake leaving Shawn and giving Miss E.T. a chance to sink her claws into him. Belle says that Cassie claims she doesn’t like Shawn that way, but Sami doubts that. Belle says she can’t think about Shawn right now because she has to focus on Paris. Sami says that she should follow her heart, and maybe things will work out for her and Shawn. Sami says she wants her to be happy, and she’s just not convinced that her running to Paris is the right thing. Sami ends up heading back to work, and she wishes Belle a wonderful time in Paris and to be happy. Belle tells Sami that no matter what happens with Brandon, she will be okay.
Meanwhile, Craig checks on Shawn and says his pulse is racing. He asks Shawn if he is on any kind of medication? Shawn asks him why he needs to know? Craig says the anesthetic could have a reaction with the medicine. Shawn tells him to forget it and just stitch him! Shawn is released, and Brady makes a joke about if he was trying to get onto fear factor. Shawn blows up at Brady, and then storms off. Brady and Chloe end up saying bye to Belle, and they hope things work out for her.
Cassie shows up for her therapy appointment with a new doctor, but he isn’t in yet. Cassie runs into Kate, and they talk about Tony. Kate says Tony is thrilled that she may be her daughter, and she also hopes they find their mother. Cassie goes into a rage about how she wanted Marlena to be her mother, but she turned her back on them and she hates her for it. Cassie storms off, and Lucas tells his mom that he overheard some of their conversation, and he thinks he knows what is going on. He knows Kate is upset about losing Billie and Austin all those years ago. She says yes, those memories are painful. She then walks off. Later, Lucas demands Sami bring him all those files she pulled to his apartment tonight.
Cassie meets up with Shawn later, and he is afraid of what he will do, or who he’s going to hurt next. Belle tries to talk with Shawn, and she basically tells him goodbye because she is leaving tomorrow.
Shawn is freaking out at the dorms, and can’t stop thinking about shooting Colin. He goes to take more pills when Mimi shows up and asks him what he is doing? He says he’s just taking some pain medicine, but Mimi says he is taking it without water, which is bad. Mimi then decides to talk to Shawn about what is bothering him. He tells her about his mom’s problems, and that Larry may still be alive. She asks if he has told Belle, but he says no because he’s not supposed to be talking to anyone about this. Mimi tries to get Shawn to talk to Belle and to stop her from going to Paris, but he blows up and tells Mimi to shut the hell up and butt out! Shawn then storms off.
At Bo and Hope’s, Hope continues to remember seeing Larry’s dead body turn into Collin as she sleeps. She also sees Shawn in her dream. The phone rings, and then someone knocks at her door. She eventually wakes up, answers the phone, but no one is there. She goes to the door and is shocked that there are cops all around her house. She thinks she is being arrested, but Bo shows up to explain things to her. They go inside, and Bo tells Hope that she didn’t do anything wrong. She asks why the police are here then? Bo says that they are here to protect her. Bo tells her that he believes Larry Welch is still alive and is plotting against her. Bo promises her that he will protect her and won’t let anything happen to her. Shawn returns home and hears them talking about Larry. He hears Hope say “you don’t think he killed Collin do you?” Shawn of course thinks they are talking about him. Shawn asks what they were talking about, and they tell him. Shawn says this just never ends! Hope and Bo calm him down, and they ask why he is home? Shawn says to pick up his weight set. Hope notices his hand and asks what happened? Shawn says he is fine and storms off. He goes downstairs and begins beating the punching bag to a pulp. Bo goes down and tries to find out what is wrong with Shawn. He tells him that his behavior isn’t helping him or anyone else. Bo says he has to focus on his mom right now and he can’t do that if he has to worry about him to. Shawn says he’ll be fine, he calms down, and then he heads back to the dorms. Later, Bo gets a call from Roman. Roman says a piece of a tuxedo stud was found at the murder scene, and if they can trace the stud, they will know who killed Collin.
Kate shows up at the station to meet with Roman. Roman thinks she is here to talk about Stefano, but she wants to talk about the two of them. Kate tells Roman that she thought about what he said, how he cares about her and wants to protect her, and she believes him. He thanks her for believing in him, and he says he will never hurt her. She then opens up and says he was right about Stefano, he took something from her. Roman tells her to take her time. Kate says that is what Stefano took from him, time. She says she understands that because what he stole from her she cannot get back either. Kate asks Roman about the island and what happened there? Roman gives her the condensed version. Roman talks about the time he lost with his kids, and how the one thing he really regrets is not being there to be the father Sami needed. Kate says she and Sami don’t give along, but she will be respectful of his feelings for and relationship with Sami. Roman tells Kate that he wants to help her and protect her, and maybe if she can talk to him they can be closer. Kate says he wants that too, so Roman asks her to confide in him. She cries and tells Roman that she can’t tell him. Roman is called away on a new lead on the Collin murder, and he asks Kate to wait for him until he returns.
Lexie is shocked to see Tony home and says he should be in the hospital. Tony refuses and says he must be walking by the end of the day because he has important work to do. Tony walks, and Lexie tells him that he is doing great. Later, Bart shows up and tells Tony that Bo has put an APB out on Larry Welch. Tony demands Larry be found and brought to him. Tony vows to make Larry pay, with his life, for what he did to Lexie. Tony prepares for his trip, and Lexie asks him where he is going? HE says he is taking a trup, and when he returns, he will have Rex and Cassie’s mother with him!
At the compound, Marlena finds a box of baby things, and John finds a book on genetic engineering that has had notes made in it. They get into an argument because Marlena thinks that John is trying to persuade her that the twins, her children, are dangerous. Marlena knows there is good in the twins. John says they have looked around for enough today, they should get some rest. John decides to find a secure room for them to stay in. Marlena continues looking at the baby things, which John puts away. They find a chess set with the queen missing, and Marlena doesn’t like it. John promises her that they will find out the truth about what happened to her here. They head to bed, and Marlena remembers being ordered to sleep as she sleeps.
Elsewhere, Shawn is outside and Mimi approaches him. He tells her that her plan to get them back together didn’t work, Belle ran away from him. Shawn tells Mimi that he yelled at her and he hurt her. Shawn knows that he has lost Belle. Shawn says he’s scared of what he might do, and he tells Mimi to go and get away from him because he could hurt her too. Mimi leaves, and Shawn gets a call from Bo that he, his mom, and Zack are going to Green Mountain lodge tonight, and that Roman will be here for him.
At the station, Sami shows up to see Abe and she tells him that Lexie needs him now more than ever. She says Larry Welch is out there and maybe trying to get back at Lexie. Abe knows there is something more going on. HE then gets a phone call from the officers watching his house telling him that Brandon walker just stopped by for a visit. Abe grabs his coat to head home, and he tells Sami that they’ll continue this conversation later.
Elsewhere, Roman and Bo try and trace the tuxedo stud back to Larry. Roman tells Bo that people in the department think that Bo is using Larry as a scapegoat for the real killer’s identity. Bo says that is ludicrous, and he wants to know who came up with this idea? Roman says it was the DA, and he’s pressuring the commissioner not to put to many officers on the search for Larry Welch.
Brandon shows up at Abe’s place to talk to Lexie about their relationship. They sit down to talk, and Brandon tells her that he wants her to be happy, so he’s going to respect her wishes and not hound her about Abe anymore. Lexie ends up upset anyways because he just comes over without announcing it, and he is talking about Abe again. Brandon says he just told her that he would not hound her anymore about Abe, and that he will respect her wishes. Lexie thanks him, and she says she’s just been so moody lately. Lexie starts talking to Brandon about Sami, and how she will try real hard to make sure she isn’t a part of his life. Brandon says that she would be wasting his time. Sometime after the news interruption, Abe comes home and Brandon is gone. Lexie tells Abe that Brandon came by to tell her that he has decided to let her be happy and back off his “I hate Abe” stance. Abe doesn’t buy it for one bit, and he thinks Brandon needs to get over his anger toward his mother and him. Lexie tells Abe to cool down and suggests they focus on something else. Abe gives Lexie her Valentine’s Day card, and her gift. She is upset because she didn’t get him anything. He says their child is the most precious gift that she could give him.
Back at Brandon’s, Sami and Brandon are spending time together when Lexie calls. Lexie says she doesn’t like the way things ended between them today. She tells him that the baby she is having is not his, and from now on he is not welcomed in her home or her life! Lexie hangs up on Brandon. Sami asks what Lexie wants now? Brandon tells Sami to just leave, so Sami says she is sorry for being sarcastic about Lexie. Sami then begins talking about how much he turns her on and how much she needs him.
At Bo and Hope’s, Hope has a nightmare that Larry shows up at her door with flowers for her on Valentine’s day. Sometime after the news interruption, Bo has come home and Hope is telling him about the horrible nightmare she had about Larry. Hope fears that Larry will never be out of her life. Later, Roman shows up to reassure her that they will take care of everything while they are away. Hope says they aren’t going away, but Bo says they are. Bo says he has booked rooms for them and Doug and Julie at Green Mountain Lodge. Doug and Julie are coming along because they have agreed to watch Zack.
In the sewers, Larry maps out the sewers to Bo and Hope’s house. Later, Larry emerges from the sewers in back of Bo and Hope’s house. Larry heads to Bo and Hope’s basement and eavesdrops on Bo and Hope’s plans, and makes plans of his own.
