The Bluewater Business Card Club or the BBCC was started in November 1989. At first we were a Chapter (satellite) club of the ABCC and were founded by Ed Banik #5, Herb Gallaway #4 and myself (Ryan DeVries #1). One of our main goals was to provide a Canadian insight or perspective into our collecting hobby. Since we knew of people that would join our club from Canada, we thought that we could put our own newsletter together on occasion (Ed Banik was the first Editor of CALLING CARD). The BBCC has regular contests and has attended "Hobbyfests" in the Sarnia area. Members have received coverage in our local newspapers. Since inception we have had over 180 members up to December 30, 2005. Ed Banik had been the president to January 2003 at which time several volunteers stepped forward to give a new face to the club executive. I was membership/recruitment officer and now Past President. Ed Banik has also put together several excellent newsletters with articles that have run in our neck of the woods and like I mentioned earlier we run contests, judge them and award prizes. I know Ed can add a lot more but this is a start. Ed can put more details when he gets caught up with his emails. A 2000 version, contest#2, was sponsored by IBCC & BBCC. The prize boards came from people who generously have donated cards and from cards of the Bluewater POOL. Ed is the keeper of the club card pool. We keep the pool separate from our collections and send members occasional cards and use the pool for promoting the hobby and as stated in here, for prizes too. We have held business card auctions similar to the ABCC but on a smaller scale than the American counterpart. For more information or membership sign-up details please contact us (details below) |
