BlueShift takes first 6-hour win!

BlueShift came home first at the weekend's race to claim our first win at a six hour race. Deakin University entrant GT-6 came in second with Team Bluebird putting in a great effort for third, their first podium position.

Dean started off our race with an hour stint, lapping Ballistic within the first 55 minutes of the race. Josh Smith jumped in for his first stint and smashed out a solid hour. Paul Volkmann was third rider in, doubtful of his fitness, but rose to the occasion as usual and was just as fast as everyone else. No surprises there. A very fit Michael Lyas jumped in for the fourth stint and rode very well to carry the team and stay ahead of the field. Nick Ferguson was our fifth rider and put in a great one-hour stint. Dean & Josh then did 40 minute stints each and Paul took the car across the line on his last half-hour stint.

We had a very clean and reliable race, no mechanical break-downs, no punctures. Just solid performances from both the car and team! After our second 24 hour victory in 2007, we wanted to win a 6 hour race and we are very happy to have now achieved that!

Our sister (brother?) team, GreyShift, also raced very well to finish in sixth place overall. For a team that was not trying to be particularly competitive, they finished greatly and also enjoyed a mechanicaly perfect run.

Thanks goes to our great sponsors; TafeSA, Glenelg Cycles & Fleurieau Embroidery. See our
gallery for round one pictures. See you at Round 2!

BlueShift extends Super Series lead with round 2 victory

BlueShift took the flag at round 2 on the 27th of July to secure our second victory at a six hour race. We are now four points clear of Cycling SA Team Ballistic.

All five riders; Dean Gibson, Josh Smith, Cameron Bowden, Tim Rochford and Nick Ferguson, rode stints in excess of an hour and looked after the vehicle extremely well to take it to its third victory in three races. It was a great opportunity to size up against interstate teams such as BYR and ExPats before the 24 hour race in September. The top four teams all finished on the same lap, breaking the previous record of 144 laps by three laps! BlueShift averaged just over 39km/h in the six hours.

We are now looking forward to the 24 hour race where we will have a re-built vehicle and a very strong team. We would like to thank our great sponsors; TafeSA, Glenelg Cycles and Avanti Bikes for their ongoing support, as well as our faithful pit crew!
See you in September!

BlueShift breaks the 1000kms barrier and takes out season 2008!

BlueShift finished a fighting second at the 24 hour AIPP, just being beaten by team TruBlu who set a new benchmark in HPV racing. Both TruBlu and BlueShift broke the 1000kms mark, with BYR, Ballistic, Ex Pats, TriSled and Deakin Uni all breaking the previous distance record. It was the fastest race ever.

We had a very clean run; no roll-overs, no punctures, just clean and fast. We also won the Team Presentation award for the fourth year in a row. Our team and support during the weekend were fantastic and we would like to thank major sponsor tafeSA for thier assistance all year. Also thanks to our other sponsors Glenelg Cycles and Fleurieu Embroidery.

Be sure to read our
race report for more detail of the race and look at our gallery! Congratulations to all those who competed and thanks goes to the AIPP board; another great event!
