My husband and I moved to Grand Junction in the summer of 1998. We chose the western Colorado city because it is close to the Rocky Mountain high country, but it has milder winters. This winter it only snowed a few times and it melted almost right away. It was just enough to be fun for a couple of Californians. |

Grand Junction is in a farm valley surrounded by red rock cliffs and high plateaus. |

Sometimes when you are driving along the highway, you can see eagles, blue herons, mule deer, and mountain sheep. |

The Colorado National Monument is only a few miles from our house. It has many trails and beautiful views of red rock cliffs and canyons. There are bicycle races there in the summer. |

Grand Junction gets its name from the Grand River which flows through it. Maybe you know the Grand River by another name. It is also called The Colorado, the same river that flows through the Grand Canyon. |
