Bluegrass For Billy
The Next Day
We want to take this time to thank EVERYONE that was involved with BFB. We could not have done it without the volunteers that gave of their time & talents to make this day a great success. The Lord smiled on us & gave us a day with perfect weather. It was a great family reunion...seeing friends, renewing old acquaintances & making new friends that will last.
The day was filled with very few problems & we were pleased that they were taken care of quickly...nothing at all major. We now know what it takes to put on a festival. We've already had some suggestions on how to improve things for next year. If you've got ideas, please share them with us.
We spoke with the sound man, Johnny D. We talked about the day & the bands that were involved. He told us that this was his first acoustic show. He was impressed with the amount & high level of talent in this area. He was complimentary of all the groups. He mentioned that he really enjoyed himself because the music was pure & nothing added. He said there was "no place to hide" with this genre of music. Johnny was pleasantly surprised that everyone at the festival was so nice to him & treated him well, too.
Phil Goodman deserves a humanitarian award for his actions at the festival regarding Billy's 1st banjo. Phil donated Bill's first banjo that he bought from him several years ago for the auction. He bid on it, was outbid by Billy's son, Mark, bid on the banjo again, won the auction, paid for it & selflessly gave it to Mark. Phil had told me that he had no intention of letting go of the banjo. His plan was to buy the banjo back every year, donating the money to our charity. We won't forget your generosity. It sounds like something Billy would have done. What a great example. Thanks, Phil.
After some rough calculations, the day raised in the area of
$5,000. Thanks also going out to NCBAMA (National Crossroads Bluegrass Acoustic Music Assn.) They made a donation of $200.This is another testament to the way Billy touched our lives. We are truly giving back & you are a part of it. As bills are paid, we'll give actual figures on income & how we will distribute it.
After the Saline City Picnic is over, we'll meet with the committee & make some decisions for the upcoming year. Our hope is to have a 2 day festival on Saturday & Sunday, Sept.1st & 2nd, 2007. We had some campers this year & hope to increase that in 2007.
Thanks again for being a part of the first BFB. It means a lot to us that you were there & took part. Please make your plans to be with us next year.

With great respect & gratitude,
The Bluegrass For Billy Committee
