May 12th: Packet Time
I received my information packet in the mail today. It's still fairly ambiguous on the financial aid issue, so I e-mailed one of the coordinators for clarification.
It says to bring a lot of stuff that most of the on-line journals tell you to brings, so nothing really new there. It says we have to buy or bring our own air conditioners, though. I thought we could rent them, so that's something else I need clarification on. I like it cool. Hot weather bakes my brain...I don't think well when I'm soaked with sweat and an oscillating fan just doesn't do it. I really hope they have air conditioners for rent.
This week I finished administering final exams to my students. Oh, in case I didn't mention it earlier in this journal, I teach and tutor English composition at a nearby community college. I will be working there full-time in the writing center there in the fall. (Unless of course I get a huge advance on my first novel and I'm able to quit my day job and write full time.)
I have absolutely no plans this weekend
so I'll be able to get some hardcore reading and writing done. I
still need to finish up the Beast and the Beauty story (which I'm not really
that excited about), and I'm horribly behind in reading stuff by our instructors.
So far I've only read a short story by Suzy McKee Charnas, Resurrection
Man by Sean Stewart, and My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due. Three
more instructors to go.
