I received this car from my father in 1999. He bought it from my uncle who in turn bought it brand new back in 1974 from Merlin Ford in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. All that was wrong with it was a faulty carb, a bad shimmy in the front end and some minor body rust.
I have done some work on it and have had some done as well. I replaced the carb, the original am radio and put in a CD player and some speakers. I also rebuilt a motor for it from my mother's 1974 Capri that she bought at the same time my uncle bought his. The steering was replaced, and we bought new rims and tires all the way round. The body was done over the winter of 2001 - 2002 and they removed all body rust and repainted it in the original copper color.
Basically, the car in is original, almost mint condition. I recently had the steering fixed, which turned out to be a set of worn out rack bushings. I also had the back suspension stiffened and raised to accommodate the larger back tires.
Recent News:I had to have the gas tank cleaned of rust, and my cousin and I replaced the stock mechanical fuel pump with an electric one. I can't wait to get her licenced and out on the road this year.
Future Plans:
I plan to replace the original motor with my rebuilt one in a year or so, and to get a new intake manifold for a four-barrel carburator to replace the stock two-barrel.
