Welcome to the Blayney Shire - Heritage Country. The Shire of Blayney has much to offer a visitor, rich in history, attractions and friendly people. Clean country air, a central location and four distinct seasons make a tour or holiday a worthwhile experience. For those looking for a lifestyle away from their present environment, Blayney Shire boasts strong industry, mining, agriculture and mainstream commerce. The Cottage, situated at 97 Adelaide Street, Blayney right next door to the Council Chambers is the local Tourist and Community Information Centre where you can purchase a number of gift items and souvenirs crafted by local residents, including Australiana, paintings, woodwork and other crafts, as well as obtain information about the Shire and surrounding districts. The
Cottage is generally open between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm each
day depending on availability of voluntary staff. At the hear of Blayney Shire lies the major service and administrative centre, Blayney. With three motels, caravan park, a number of hotels and bed and breakfast establishments in the immediate area, Blayney makes an ideal base to explore Heritage Country and the rest of the Central West. Within a short distance are the historic villages of Millthorpe and Carcoar while history also abounds in the other settlements of Newbridge, Neville, Mandurama and Lyndhurst. Many documents and items associated with the development of Blayney are displayed at the Viv Kable Memorial Museum in the Blayney Library, Adelaide Street, where you can also carry out family and local history research. Library hours can be obtained by visiting www.blayney.local-e.nsw.gov.au where a Community and Business Register can also be viewed in pdf format. Blayney boasts four distinct seasons, a fact mirrored in the towns parks and gardens as well as from the impressive lookout at Church Hill. There is no shortage of places to eat ranging from takeaway outlets to hotels, coffee shops, clubs and restaurants. Not only do the Blayney Shire accommodation houses give you access to the many attractions within Heritage Country, they are also in the centre of the varied Central West tourist area which takes in Cowra, Canowindra, Wyangala Dam, Abercrombie Caves, Rockley, Oberon, Bathurst, Sofala, Hill End, Orange and Molong.
