Old News/Updates

<04/01/09>ND3 v0.30 is out, finally! For reals this time, or so I hear.
<11/09/08>ND2 v1.42 is out. More fairly minor edits and tweaks.
<06/18/08> ND2 v1.41 is out! Mainly a few minor tweaks, a few more bits translated, and a slew of name changes. That's right, you won't have any idea what anyone is talking about anymore. Suffer, I say!

... That's a joke. You'll be fine.

<10/25/07> ND2 v1.40 is out! This news update is a bit late in coming, but the release marks the fifth anniversary of ND2's original release. Pretty amazing to think that this site is already over five years old...

As you might imagine, there have been a fair amount of improvements overall. Also, there has been some translation work on the dialogue. As it always has been, this project is a (slowly moving) work in progress, but at least the plot should make sense now. Also a few skits here and there, a bunch of dialogue that tells you what to do, and so forth.

Cyllya has lent a hand with some Translation, and Carnivol with Quality Checking. Thanks go out to them, to say the least. But don't take this to mean I don't want your help if, by some rare chance, you have the skills, time, and/or motivation. See the previous post for details on this. My thanks go out in advance to any of you who might be interested and shoot me an email.

<08/26/05> A few things. First, the ND3 v0.26 and ToP GBA v0.20 patches are released.

Second, I want to say that I am looking for people with time on their hands:

ND2 translator. If you want to do this, you would have to:
- have played through ND2
- like/be familiar with the Tales series in general (some familiarity with Phantasia, Destiny, and/or Eternia (US: Destiny II) would help)
- know Japanese somewhat or fairly well
- know English somewhat or fairly well
- be able to play the game a bit as you translate
The script, unfortunately, generally does not include the speakers' names in it. Thus, unless you play the game as you translate, you might not be able to figure out who is saying what.

ToP GBA ASM hacker. I'm not really sure if people with both the skills involved and the time and interest needed exist, but I thought I might as well find out. Stuff that would probably need work in ToP GBA before a translation could be started:
- Changing the large-font text routine to allow for 1-byte text reading instead of 2-byte
- Variable-width large font
- Variable-width small font, if possible

ND2/ND3 ASM hacker. This is not really necessary, but hey, if you want to (and can) do it, and you don't want to (or can't) do it for ToP GBA, it would be awesome.
- Variable-width fonts
- Those in-town location names in ND3 that I can't figure out (this might not be ASM so much...)
- The "known bugs" with each game, mainly involving a window being too small for the intended text
- Any other neat things you can think of that would make the games' translations better.

If you are interested in any of these, or if you think you could help in any other way, please send me an email at my address at the bottom of the page. It would be really cool, as I am not exactly an expert in Japanese and GBA ASM/general ASM hacking, nor do I have a lot of free time.

<04/11/05> Obviously, the patch release on April Fools' Day was an April Fools' joke. As an apology for the trite joke, ND3 Patch v0.25 is out.
<02/14/05> ND3 Patch has been bugfixed. It will continue to be bugfixed as bugs (if any) are reported to me.
<02/12/05> ND3 Patch v0.20 released! Read the readme to find out what is new.
<01/11/05> The ND3 v0.10 patch has been updated with a few bug fixes. Bugfix update count: 3.
<01/11/05> ND3 Patch v0.10 released! Check the readme for what's translated.
