International E-mail Exchange with Classrooms Around the World
2004-2005

This project was created by Mrs. Susan Biltucci, Remington Elementary School,
Ilion, New York, United States of America
A new project for the 2005-2006 school year will be developed based on this project. Next year participants will be required to allow the use of their e-mail address on the project home page.
Participants: Any classroom around the world

Requirements:
1. E-mail Mrs. Biltucci at gardenloon@frontiernet.net to sign up for the project by September 1, 2004.  A list of participants will be compiled and sent to each participant by September 6, 2004.  Within the subject of your e-mail you must type International E-mail Exchange.  I will not open your message if I do not see it.

2. As a partner in this project you must agree to e-mail all of the classrooms by October 15, 2004 and the message needs to come from you and your students.  Your e-mail message must include at least 25 interesting facts about your culture and country and at least three interesting pictures of things that you feel are important to your country’s history.  You must send at least three pictures, but more would be wonderful.  Please include some information about your school and community.

The pictures can be buildings of architectural or historical importance, monuments/statues, schools, cathedrals/churches, natural landmarks like mountains, or anything you think other children around the world would be interested in.  These pictures may be ones you found on the internet or pictures you scanned to your message.

3. Within the subject of your e-mail to all participants you must type International E-mail Exchange

NOTE:  This project requires you to create only one e-mail message that you will send to all participants.

4. If you have a classroom or school web page, please include this with your e-mail message to other participants.

5. In return, you agree to allow Mrs. Biltucci to share your e-mail address with all partner classrooms included in this project.

6. Once the addresses have been mailed, it is solely your responsibility to e-mail the partner classrooms in this exchange by October 15, 2004.

7. I would like to post the name of your school and the city in which your school is located on this web page.  Let me know if you do not want me to do this with your e-mail message.

*Sign up only if you are committed to sending the one e-mail message that is required along with a minimum of three interesting pictures.

Dear Participants,
The information that has been received is absolutely amazing!  What great facts and beautiful pictures of your countries.  I am sure students around the world are enjoying the experience.  A heartfelt thank you for participating and enhancing the education of students about the world they live in.  Your dedication to your profession is evident in your responses to the project.  It has been a pleasure sharing this experience with you.

With respect and admiration,
Susan Biltucci

October 17th - The e-mail address for the classroom from China was mailed to all participants.
October 21st - See the message above for epals.com since this address is through epals.

Update:  February 2005

We took a few class days in October to share information information from our partner classrooms.  During the third quarter of our school year, my students are responsible for a country report.  Students will be able to use the information received through this project in their country report.  They will also have to complete research using other sources.  The goal is to create PowerPoint presentations to share with classmates.

A select group of students will soon be creating a web page that will reflect the most interesting and important information from each country.
