The Birmingham Peace Project will host a statewide meeting of The Alabama Peace and Justice Coalition.( See full schedule below.) The coalition, consisting of Alabama groups which organized prior to the Iraq war, produced the statewide "Alabama Says: Stop the War on Iraq!" which was attended by approximately 800 people on September 24, 2005.
In attendance will be: the Alliance for Peace and Justice,
the Montgomery Peace Project, Tuscaloosa Peace Project, North Alabama Peace Network, Mobile Citizens for Peace and the Birmingham Peace Project.
June 24 Schedule:

Public Film Showing 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. -- Dessert and Coffee Provided
Featuring: A half-dozen mid-length and short progressive films including:
1) Flash films by Ava Lowery, an Alabama highschool student achieving national recognition for peace efforts
2) "Massey" -- an X-Marine becomes a C. O. and publishes his memoir "Kill, Kill, Kill" in France
3) "Voices of Dissent" -- Activism and the American Democracy
