INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my classroom website. Over the last decade, the world has become more dependant on computers, and the field of education is no different. So what does this mean to you? If you are (or have been) one of my students, you know that my classes focus on means of communication. They are not classes that focus only on the written word, but the "how and why" of the written word as well. Within the last two decades we have seen a shift in the "how" of the written word. The vast majority of communication in our world has gone from pen and paper to keystrokes and hard drive space. For me, what started as a place to post family pictures has evolved into an information center that provides weekly assignments, extra credit assignments, class descriptions, helpful website links, and most importantly, weekly grade updates. This site opens the classroom up to not only students, but also to parents and guardians who would not normally have the ability to check on their sons or daughters on a regular basis. It is my hope that sometime soon, this website will also serve as a hub for those students that cannot commit to a normal school day schedule and must instead, take their classes over the internet. Until that time, please feel free to browse my website. The site is updated every Monday and Thursday during the school semester, and once a week during the breaks. Additionally, feel free to email me with any questions pertaining to the classes, the site, or life in general. To email me, simply click on the email link at the bottom of the page and a Microsoft Outlook window will open with my email address. If you would rather email me through a web-based mail service, email me at misterhurst@hotmail.com.
