A Close Encounter of the Most Adorable Kind
(Or should I call it "Confessions of a Tennis Moron"?)

by Carol Lim

I have never gone ga-ga over Michael (not at my age!). I have never had his poster on my bedroom wall (and probably never will). In fact, (oh, this is so embarrassing!), I have never watched him play--not even once! Come to think of it, I have never watched a single tennis match in my entire life. Actually, I am absolutely clueless as to what tennis is all about. In tennis terms...I am a moron! animation

SO! How did this tennis moron become a Michael Chang fan? Simple! I had a close encounter of the most adorable kind!

I have always known of Michael's existence. Proud, as any other Christian is, that he is famous and boldly professes the Lord. That was about it. He came through Singapore a couple of times for the Heineken Open and I would read about him in the papers and utter little prayers for him. And once he's out of town, I'd totally forget about him and went on with life...until October 1999 when he visited my church.

Claire would like to thank her dad Fred for "introducing" Michael Chang to the family
through an '89 French Open video he borrowed from a friend.
