Joe lived in the Barstow/Yermo/Newberry Springs area of California for all of his life. He traveled once to Germany to see a girlfriend, and once to Japan with his Father. The last years of his life he devoted alot of his time to Becky Carson, and her two children, Cash and Jennifer. On April 29, 2000, he was at the Carson's home, when Cash was attacked by the two dogs belonging to the neighbors. He was able to get Cash away from the dogs and took him and Becky to the hospital in Barstow, 25 miles away. Cash died there in less than two hours. |

| Joe supported Becky as best he could, but was totally broken by the loss of Cash. He felt a certain responsibility for him and his dying was unacceptable to Joe. He carried most of his hurt inside him as he continued going about his business, his job managing the pistachio farm. On June 25, 2000, as he rode his quad to work, he was on a road that had very little traffic. As he pulled into an intersection, he either didn't expect a car to be coming, or he just didn't look because there never was. But a car was coming and he pulled out in front of it. His helmet was strapped onto the front of the quad...he was badly injured and was picked up by mercyflight to go to the hospital, where he died enroute 10 minutes before arrival. Joe was 35 years old. He and Cash are together now.... |
