Purpose:

Jesus' statement in the book of Mathew 24:14 which says, "And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for  a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come," has propelled The Voice of Light (VOL) Ministries forward from the beginning.  Propagating the Gospel in to all the earth, as the Great Commission of Christ commends us, is an enormous task.  It is one which the Lord compels all His believers to participate in.  The purpose of VOL is to present the Gospel to those who have not heard the Gospel, as well as to encourage disciple existing Believers with the word of God, Songs,  reading poems and testimony of other faithful Believers, etc.   The means selected to accomplish this task is radio-particularly shorwave and internet radio.

A secondary goal of the ministry is information.  We believe knowledge is a key for the evangelization of non-believers.  Knowledge is also fundamental for the informed intercession of believers.  As such, we provide information through regularly scheduled radio programs, informing global prayer day and other informative, relevant materials.

A third goal includes support our listeners with praying for their prayer request and counselling through mail.

Why Short-wave Radio?

The traditional method of evangelism by missionaries has become less efficient due to a number of global trends.  Urbanization, politics, and sheer numbers have each taken their collective toll on field missionaries.  Other efforts, such as the distribution of Gospel literature, have been limited in their effectiveness due to the illiteracy of nearly one billion people worldwide.  We firmly believe God has given the church the tool of international, shortwave radio as a key to communicating the Gospel.  Sortwave radio has ability to transcend geographical, religious and political barriers.  So it can help to supplement the work of field missionaries to reach masses of people simultaneously.  It also has a personal approach which allows the listener to experience the reality of Gospel broadcasts in the privacy and safety of his own home.  Church planting can be a by-product of Christian radio.  In areas where churches are unavailable, radio is serving as the "local church."

Vision:

We have a plan to broadcast the radio on daily basis.  To do this we need your PRAYER and support.  Please PRAYER for us.  To support us financially, please mail your check or money order to our mailing address and write payable to Berhan Semay Church of Toronto.
