"These magical, fun-loving friends come from below the waves to play with girls! All My Pretty Mermaids have soft, silky hair that's fun to style with sea-themed accessories. Their poseable fins let them stand or sit and are decorated with secret name designs that appear in cold water. Rainbow Mermaids also have streaks of color on their bodies , rainbow-striped ponytails and easy-dress fashions. Princess Mermaids feature extra long hair, glittery bodies and glamorous, easy-dress outfits. My Pretty Mermaids bring these romantic friends out of the sea and into girl's playtime adventures." -Taken from a Hasbro insert found on their website.

In 1991 Hasbro/Playskool released a set of toys that mixed My Little Ponies with Disney's The Little Mermaid. These mermaid dolls had 5 points of articulation, arms, head, and two joints in the tail fin. Each mermaid had a special symbol on her tail that would be revealed when dipped in icey water, then disappear when dipped in warm. And each doll came with various accessories, many that were made from reused MLP molds.

A HUGE thanks goes out to Lovebeam for getting some fantastic MOC pictures for me. Because of her, we now have a ton of names. If anyone has any information on these toys please feel free to
email me.

-May 2004 Updates: Added a TON of MOC pictures, including symbol and name pictures aksi added severak new sections. I've also recieved several emails asking where to find these cute dolls. The only place I've had any luck at has been at thrift stores, flea markets and ebay. On ebay and ebay.uk they'll occasionally pop up if you do a search for 'playskool mermaid'. Most dolls seem to sell for $1-$4 dollars a piece.
