BERRIEN COUNTY VOLUNTEER
DISASTER RESPONSE TEAM

The concept of the Berrien County Volunteer Disaster Response Team was formed in the days following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.  An alliance of citizens from very diverse backgrounds, but the same vision,  to create one of the most highly trained, well-equipped, all-volunteer, disaster response teams in the State of Michigan.      Following this vision, the Berrien County Volunteer Disaster Response Team personnel have        dedicated many volunteer hours, organizing, and working with federal, state, and local agencies and organizations, in preparation of becoming a response team all other agencies can rely on.

The Berrien County Volunteer Disaster Response Team will require that all team members complete the basic C.E.R.T. course created by the Emergency Management Institute through F.E.M.A. no matter what their present level of training is.

We are happy to announce that we currently have two members of our team certified as "Trainer" instructors for the Community Emergency Response Team training program. This qualifies them to train C.E.R.T. instructors as well as C.E.R.T. teams. For more information about C.E.R.T. click the C.E.R.T. link to the left. Training schedules will be posted on the Training Calendar page.
