This Astronomy Society was set up just over six months ago, by a small but determined group of people who all work in the Bausch and Lomb contact lens manufacturing facility in Waterford city and who also share a common interest in astronomy,
the Universe and everything in it.
There are, at present approximately fifteen members in the society.
When the society was originally set up nobody in the society had any proper equipment such as telescopes or binoculars but after a rigourous search for scopes at affordable prices we found that we had to, as I'm sure most of you reading this had to, actually go outside of Ireland and its extortionate prices for any half decently priced scopes.
Now that we are getting more equipped slowly but very surely, observation nights are being organised shortly and a great deal of learning mixed with enthusiasm will be at the forefront
We would like to also mention a word of thanks to IFAS for permitting our society to join them and to become part of this growing instiutute.
