What the Four Flags Represent:
The four flags represent my heritage -- proud and free. They represent four people groups who shaped our lives and gave us hope for the future. My father and youngest sister were born underneath the Puerto Rican flag, which is a United States territory won as a result of the Spanish-American War against Spain. My mother was born underneath the Azorean Flag which belongs to Portugal. My sister and I were born on Lajes US Air Force Base, Terceira underneath the American Flag on Azorean Soil, a possession of Portugal. My brother was born in the Great State of Alabama.

Coming from the small Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico, an Air Force man took the step to serve his country. On a military tour to Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal he meet another islander, which forever linked the generations of both worlds. He brought the peoples of this world closer. This is my genealogy. Although generations to come will be connected to this union, this is the beginning of a journey to find our history, our ancestry and our heritage. Join me as we take a step back in time to understand where we are going in the future.

Disclaimer:
These are a few of the many useful sites I have found. I promote the free sharing of information among genealogists, since we already have to pay for documents needed to verify relationship. You may run across some sites which require you to become a paying member to use them. I am not in any way promoting those sites. That is a individual decision.
