| "The Skirtlifters" first came to my attention through the fine craftsmanship in building banjos demonstrated by one of it's performing members, Billy Mathews. The Avoca Iowa Festival, hired the group to perform at it's old-time event which attracts as many as 45 to 50 thousand people to the Pottawattamie Fairgrounds every year over Labor Day Weekend. Billy Mathews & The Skirtlifters were the most remarkable act we had the 1987 year. ........Bob Everhart, President The National Traditional Country Music Association |
| "I was real pleased when we were able to get Billy Mathews from Arkansas to come to our contest- He has the Ozark Style that puts something special into our contest" ..................Wilbur Foss 15th Annual South Dakota Fiddling Contest National Invitational Contest |
Thank You for being a part of the SMSU's "Celebrate The Ozarks" festival. You played a lot of good tunes few there had heard before.......... Gordon McCann |

| Your performance at the Center during "The Stringband Jamboree" was unquestionably one of the most enjoyable experiences of the year for myself and a significantly large segment of our audience...Your appearance, selection of music, pacing, skill, and enthusiasm all add to the experience, and the fact that your music and style are also different from the usual fare make your performance both enjoyable and unique.
