This site is dedicated to the adventures of two humans and three dogs who are trying to learn to herd. There are lots of great herding sites out there on the web, as I have learned surfing around. However, most of them are about people who have been quite successful in herding. I decided to present our trials and tribulations as we try to learn to herd from the beginning.
I will try to update the training logs after each of our lessons. I will be adding diagrams of the courses and problem areas in the courses in the coming weeks.

| Bobbie and Ryan |
Bobbie- The human with the rough collies. Bobbie has done just about everything there is to do in conformation with her Azalea Hill Collies. In addition showing her dogs, Bobbie has also titled dogs in obedience, agility and herding and owns one of the few AKC titled versitility dogs (Ch Azalea Hill's Aladar CD HT NA). Bobbie is currently training three of her younger dogs to herd.
Ingrid- The human with the salukis. Ingrid became interested in herding after watching a herding trial in Perry, GA. However, salukis don't herd. Luckily, Carol has a dog that Ingrid is able to use to learn to herd.
Carol- The human who is teaching. Carol has grown up herding. Her father Hubert Bailey is a successful handler, breeder, trainer and judge. Carol purchased her Red Creek Farm in part to have a place to teach herding and hold herding events.
"Ryan"- Ch Azalea Hill's Orion HT- one of Bobbie's collies. Ryan recently finished his AKC Herding Tested (HT) title. He started out with Bobbie but after gaining his HT, he is back on the couch!
"Alycin"- Ch Azalea Hill's Alycin HT- another of Bobbie's collies. Allison is a young Champion collie bitch. She got her herding instinct certificate at Collie Nationals and recently got her AKC Herding Tested (HT) title. Bobbie is planning on working Allison toward more AKC titles.
"Dream"- Ch Azalea Hill's Dark Dreamer- another of Bobbie's collies. Bobbie thought that Dream might be good at herding. On her first introduction to sheep, she ignored them. However, her interest was sparked on her second introduction and she will now work toward her HT title.
"Bradford"- Ch Azalea Hill's Bradford- the only sable dog Bobbie is currently working in herding. He is Bobbie's newest champion, finishing with two specialty Winners Dog awards. He is very keen on the sheep, whines when the other dogs are working and barks when he is working them.
"Tina"- the border collie. Tina is Carol's border collie that Ingrid uses for herding lessons. Tina was hit by a car at 2 and had extensive surgery on her rear leg. She is now basically recovered and NEVER limps when herding. Tina is partially trained in herding and is a very "sticky" dog. She is 9! She is currently competing in Beginning Novice at border collie trials.
