A CALL TO REPENTANCE, PRAYER AND UNITY

All of us have been watching in awe as our country experienced a horrific and lamentable incident in our country. The United States has been known as a safe haven thru out history. A place made up of various immigrants who came here to seek hope, freedom and a prosperous life.

Despite current teachings this country was built on a solid foundation. Our forefathers built and organized our country in the shape of a wagon wheel, in which our law's and liberties are the spindles springing forth from the center, that center being God.

When our country was founded, these men did not have technology, special interest or a mass military system in which to place their faith on. They relied and counted on God for safety, protection, increase and direction.

There is no question that our country has moved away from its first love, God. We have seen the deterioration of society; we have watched the Biblical morals and values of our country compromised to the point of near extinction.

We are all in shock over the yet to be determined death count from the tragedy of the attack on the United States. However, are we this shocked and devastated to know that in 1995, a total of 1,210,883 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC? (CDC. Abortion surveillance: preliminary data -- United States, 1994. MMWR 1997;45:1123-7) Are we as horrified to know that in 1999 the Department of Justice reported that 14.8 million teenagers use drugs. (BJS, DOJ 2000) Are we affected by the fact that in 1998, the number of reported divorces was 1,135,000 ? (Monthly Vital Statistics Report, Vol. 47, No. 21) Assuredly, the answer would be NO!

What has happened one might ask? How could these statistics be real in a country that was built on moral standards and Biblical pretense? Simply put, Christians began to compromise! Post WWI statistics show that:

Christian's began to withdraw from government involvement.
Church attendance dropped a walloping 72 percent from 1939 to 1997, Faith in God, took the back seat to faith in one's own achievements. Standing up for one's convictions took a spiral downhill turn into being "politically correct". Dependence on God became dependence on the system.

My friends the actions of September 11, 2001 show us that we, in our own achievements can do nothing outside of God. It shows us that the United States is not "untouchable". It showed us that outside of God we have no security and are indeed vulnerable. However it as well showed us that God is the only source that is all powerful, all loving, never changing, and in control of all things.

Upon watching the News and reports I heard more than one-person say that God has turned His back on us. NO, God is still God it is we that has turned our backs on Him!

The Word tells us in II Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. The key word here is "IF".

How do we get back to the basics and return to Him, again the key is in this scripture. SEEK HIM, PRAY and REPENT.

We as believers are called to be salt and light in this world.
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

THEREFORE:
Let your light shine,
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Stand on your convictions without wavering,
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Choose what side your on and let your yea be yea
Matthew 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Be an example and a "seasoned" believer. Do not loose your flavor!
Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Do not become weary of living a life becoming of God
. Galations 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 2 Thes 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

We are called to PRAY for our leaders
1 Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing. 1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

This is not intended to pile hot coals onto an already bad situation. This is to encourage us all to stand together in prayer and belief that this situation will indeed bring glory to God. Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We can see within the last 48 hours public prayer coming from our officials. We have heard our President and leader ask us to pray for him and for those who mourn. We have seen our news channels bring Christian teachers before the cameras and ask about the Word of God! Let us pray that this situation will bring forth salvation for those who are lost.

Let us ponder His word and continue to pray without ceasing! Let us unite as one nation UNDER GOD! Pray for our President, Pray for our military, Pray for our Rescue Workers!
In His Love,
Nanci
