This Month's Union Meeting Date for 2003is December 13th, 2003.The Meeting will be held at AFSCME Council 40 Office. The Executive Board Meeting will start at 11:00am and the General Membership Meeting starts at 1:00pm

We are reviewing the Draft of our New Contract and talking about the Current Component Lab situation and the Current Contract Language on travel time and pay issues. We are also talking about current & past grievances.
We Need Union Stewards for each Department, and an alternate Steward in that same Department. We would like Union Stewards in all Facilites. The Union will train the Stewards by letting the Stewards take classes.
We need someone to Publish our Local 1558 Monthly Newsletter so that it can be sent to all members monthly.
Thank you for filling out your Union Surveys. The Bargaining and Executive Board used the information in them during bargaining & we're currently using the information when talking with Management.
We have recently taken up the following issues with Management:
1. Employee Discipline
2.Pay Differences between MUA/CLERK/Hospital Services Couriers and Travel Time.
3.Health & Safety of our Workers & their Environment.
4.Overtime Issues.
5.Seniority issues regarding extra hours.
6.Staffing issues.
7.New Techonology and procedures.
8.New FDA consent decree.
9. Proper training and directives on new machinery and technology as it affects your job.
A Reminder that a Union Steward is NOT needed if you are being given a JOB COUNSELING unless the employee believes it's going to lead to some type of discipline or termination. If you believe this, then you NEED to ASK for a Union Steward IMMEDIATELY. If your request for a Steward is Denied during a counseling session, a discipline action,a suspension or firing, contact a Steward Immediately after the incident. There are short time lines for investigating and filing a grievance.
We are asking members Immediately contact a Union Steward for any concerns regarding their job duties,work hours or any safety concerns related to your job.
