About Me
I started using computers in 1980
with my first computer having a
whopping 1k ram, 4k rom for basic, and a cassette recorder for storage.
Since then I have used most computers made in the U.S. with my main
systems through the years being a 512k Tandy Color Computer 3, Atari
1040STE, Amiga 500, Commodore 128, Tandy 1000HX, Macintosh Color
Classic(Now with
Mystic upgrade full 68040 33mhz 132megs ram 9.1gig scsi HD),
Performa 6116, Performa 6360, Blue/White G3 400mhz, Pentium 3
1ghz with BeOS 5.03 Pro, and my Main Computer now being a Digital Audio
Macintosh fully loaded 10.4.11 1.5gigs ram 120gig HD Dual layer DVD-RW
ATI Radeon 9800 and a Dual G4 1.73ghz Powerlogix upgrade. I
have owned and used many more computer systems through the years than
what I have listed, but those were my main systems at the time.
Formally I have an Associates Degree in Computer Networking, but the
bulk of my experience has been obtained as a hobby. Everyone asks
me how did I get the name Sloar? Well no, I did not get it from the
movie Ghostbusters, but there is a story to it. When I was in
elementary school, I could not say dinosaur for a while, instead I
would say dinosloar. Kids being kids, my friends called me Sloar and it
has been my nickname since.
07/07/2008 update: My new main system is now an AMD Phenom Quad
Core with 4gigs ram, 500 gig HD, Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT
512meg Video Card, and M-Audio
Revolution 5.1 24bit 192khz Audio Card. I use Windows XP for my
favorite game Call of duty United Offensive, the Vista that came with
my computer almost never, and Dreamlinux
bootable on a 2 gig USB Pen Drive. I also use PearPC with OSX Tiger,
VMware with OSX86 10.4.10, and hopefully soon OSX86 native with a few more
tweaks. Once in a while I run WinUAE
for Amiga programs and ARAnym for
Atari ST programs.
