After years of learning and struggling with basic html, I've finally decided to revamp all my web pages. It's going to be a slow process because I'm trying to move away from the basic html tags and tables, concentrating fully on cascading style sheets instead. This page is my first attempt at css. I'm still amazed by all the beautiful effects you can get from style sheets. There are plenty of online tutorials to help those interested in learning more about css and web page design in general. You'll find some of my favorite helpful links at the lower right.
I'm the type of person who likes to have complete control over what I'm doing therefore I prefer using notepad for all my coding. Recently, I discovered a great little editor and use that quite often now. It's called HTML-Kit and you can get a free download here. For graphic work I use Paint Shop Pro. Click on this link to try this great program for free.
Although I play around with Web Design and Graphics a lot, my passion in life is writing. Fantasy is my genre of choice. A "few" of my favorite authors are: Weiss and Hickman, Melanie Rawn, Tad Williams, Terry Brooks, and George R.R. Martin.
A couple of years ago, I discovered the wonderful world of anime. I've been catching up on old anime series rented from Netflix. They're fast and have a great selection of anime titles therefore I thought they deserved a plug here. My personal anime dvd collection is small at the moment but I'm hoping to change that slowly but surely.
About nine years ago, I created a storyboard on the net where several talented people got together for Round Robin style of writing. For the past 2 years our group of writers has dwindled due to real life busyness, and now my board has become anime orientated with fanfic, fanart, anime and manga discussions, and even a "yaoi" role-playing forum.
March 2007 update: The storyboard link has been removed because I've decided to close the board down and move onto other things.
November 2007 update: Yep, I've gone and started another forum for fantasy/sword and sorcery collaborative writing. This one is moving at a much slower pace but I'm not complaining because it gives me time to do other things yet I can still get some writing in a couple of times each week. The link to the new Variance forum is on the upper left of the page.
July 2008 update:At this time the forum isn't being used. But at least it's there, and ready, should the urge to do some collaborative writing return.
Recently, the urge to learn how to draw hit me like a brick. I've been trying to get at least an hour or two of practice in each weekday, and of course I spend most of that time trying to draw anime characters from magazines or from anyplace else I can find them. Right now I use Paint Shop Pro 6 or 8 to color the pictures. I'm not a very good artist yet, but I hope to improve. To see some of my work, click on the My Art Pages link at the left, or visit my Deviant art page.
Another fairly new hobby of mine is astronomy. I have two telescopes: A Meade ETX-60AT and a Orion Astroview 6EQ. My husband uses a Celestron NexStar 8. Living in the big city with all the light pollution makes it hard to see much but we have a blast looking for stuff anyway.
I try to stay away from animal shelters and pet shops because I want to bring home every little creature I see. Right now I have two cats, two dogs, and a cockatiel. In the past I've had dogs, guinea pigs, fish, rabbits, and a vampire love bird. (long story) I'm a great big ole animal lover at heart.
I married at a very young age and got divorced 17 years later. My second husband and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary soon. We're still in love and I see us growing old together. I have 2 daughters and an adorable grandson and granddaughter.
Thanks for stopping by!
