Where: Mérida, Yucatán, México

What : up to 6 academic credits in Spanish, available at
    the undergraduate and graduate levels
2 courses available:

Mexican Literature
Introduces students to the selected works of some of the greatest narrative writers in Mexican Literature: texts vary on a yearly basis.

Mexican Culture & Civilization
Offers complete immersion in Mexican life and culture in the Yucatán, beginning with students’ home-stay with Mexican families and extending naturally to hands-on activities and excursions. Selected readings, assignments, and tests complement our cultural activities.
Approximate costs:

Lodging and meals for the 4-week session: $400, paid directly to your host family

Excursions (3): $100, paid on arrival in México

Tuition: varies with total summer courseload

Public transportation within Mérida: approximately $75-100

Round-trip airfare: group rate is negotiated each year, according to size of group.  2005 rate: $544.85

Spending money: varies by individual
Highlight of activities:

· Visit the Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá & Uxmal

· Tour the Palacio Municipal, Casa de Montejo, local museums, and historic sites

Academic credit: The establishment and approval of academic standards and the involvement of ENMU in this summer study program is limited to the awarding of academic credit.
