What ARA Is About

Avian Rescue Association, Inc. ( ARA ) is the first of its kind and was formed to help establish a set of guidelines for avian rescue/adoption facilities and individuals. There has come to be a growing need for avian rescue and so has the need for a basic set of standards and guidelines. Once the application fee is received, applicants will be sent a list of questions to be completed and returned with a letter of recommendation from a veterinarian. The ARA certificate of approval will be mailed to approved individuals and/or facilities.

ARA is a nonprofit corporation and is comprised of board members with extensive experience in avian rescue, behavior and nutrition. These board members will review all applications for ARA certification.

The Purpose of ARA

The purpose of certifying avian rescue individuals, groups or organizations is to give recognition to those with outstanding achievements and dedication to avian rescue. To set forth guidelines for new avian rescuers to follow and to promote better bird care through education.

To unite all ARA Certified rescuers  in the event of a bird in need outside any one particular rescuers area.  We should all have a common goal which is to get that bird to a safe environment.  ARA hopes to pull all Avian Rescue Association Certified rescuers resources together in the event of such rescues.  This is something that a group of independent rescuers, who also serve on ARA's board, have done for several years.  They now wish to expand this unity to all ARA Certified avian rescuers.
