Janet's stories and poetry are often inspired by the beautiful setting in which she writes: the Ouachita Mountains of SE Oklahoma. A serene lifestyle is reflected in her stories about ordinary Southern folk caught in extraordinary circumstances - buffeted by life but drawing strength from the Creator and his creation.     Her stories include HENRY AND THE SNOWMAN, a tall tale about the year the snowman walked off and left Eldine & Henry with a wild yarn to tell. Her short-short story, SISTER JENNY'S GOD, received an honorable mention at the 2006 Oklahoma Writer's Federation Inc. competition.     In 2007, I LIKE ROADS, a picture book for reading aloud, took First Place at the  OWFI competition. Her poem HOUSE WITH ORANGE WINDOWS took Second Place in 2004. In 2005 she won First Place with her essay AUTUMN WOODS. One of her picture books IT'S HOT BUT I'M NOT! took Third Place in 2006. In 2007, her concrete poem Tornado Alley won 1st Place and was published in Byline Magazine.     She has written 3 other children's picture books, lots of poems and is currently working on her first novel.
