Hosts: Kevin Kelly and Dr. Tom Prichard
Guest: Lita
Report by: Kevin Gregg @
Powerwrestling.com
Kevin Kelly and Dr. Tom Prichard are in the studio for WWF Byte This!, and the two start off by talking about Byte This!. Kevin and Tom say that there is going to be a new host for WWF Byte This! next week as Kevin Kelly is going to Memphis to do some work. Dr. Tom says that Kevin may be doing some commentary there, and Kevin says he doesn't know if he will be doing that or not. Lita is going to be tonight's guest on Byte This!, and the phone lines are packed! Lita has a very interesting background, and Kevin says that everyone wants to know more about her. Tom says that she has tons of talent, and many saw her in ECW.
When she came to the WWF, she took after Essa Rios pretty fast, and we'll find out more about Lita on Byte This!. Kevin mentions that Lita is very familiar with the Hardy Boyz, and he thanks everyone who is joining them in the video chat, and the thousands of emails that were sent in for Lita. Tom mentions the King of the Ring, and you can find everything you want to know at www.kingofthering.com. Tom says that he is looking forward to the Sgt. Slaughter Golf Tournament pictures on WWF.com, and they can be found right on the main page of WWF.com. Kevin says that they raised a lot of money for the charity event, and he thanks everyone who took part in that.
They talk about WWF Smackdown!, and Chris Jericho takes on Test in a Qualifying Match, and Chris Benoit defends the WWF Intercontinental belt against Jeff Hardy tonight. The two talk about the match, and Kevin says that Jeff Hardy stepped up his game. When you go from tag to singles, it's a big change. The Dudley Boyz will be in action, and Too Cool will defend their tag team belts against the Godfather and Dean. Trish Stratus is looking to get some revenge against Rikishi because of the stink face that she got this past Monday night.
Kevin questions as to why Rikishi Phatu put the stink face on Trish Stratus for such a long time. They go to some pre-Lita phone calls, and they go to line 5. The caller asks about Degeneration X, and he says that they are making him mad now. It's just The Road Dogg, X-Pac and Tori, and they aren't doing anything. They are with the McMahon/Helmsley Faction. The caller asks if they will leave the Faction in the near future and go out on their own. Kevin says that there's no reason for it as they are main eventing everywhere. The caller says that this isn't what DX is suppose to be.
The caller asks about Meng going to the WWF, and Kevin says that he hasn't heard anything at all about that. Lita joins the show, and Tom asks Lita how she is doing, and she says that she is doing good. Tom says that it's always all good with Lita. Tom mentions that Lita is on the last Byte This! show that Kevin Kelly is doing. Kevin says that they are so happy she is here in the World Wrestling Federation, and we will get to see her on WWF Smackdown! tonight, and she makes quite an impact. Kevin asks her how it felt to be a part of that Smackdown! broadcast. Lita says that it was really cool, and it was apprehensible at first, and then she felt really good about it later.
She looked on the Internet for the spoilers, and she says that it was a lot of fun. Lita mentions that she is a little banged up, but that's not a big deal. Kevin talks about the power bomb that Lita took from Eddie Guerrero, and Lita says that the power bomb that she took hurt her the most, and she couldn't lift for about 6 weeks. Kevin says that Lita has worked with Chyna and the Hardy Boyz, and being with Essa Rios had some special meaning for her. Kevin asks Lita to talk about how she knew Essa Rios. Lita says that it's totally crazy and ironic, and she met him briefly in Mexico.
She didn't know him too well, but when she decided that she wanted to be a part of this crazy business. After leaving Mexico, it was like watching a big tennis match, and Essa Rios really stuck in her head. She got to know him and she watched him a lot in Mexico. When she was speaking with the WWF, the idea was mentioned to her that she was going to be with Essa Rios. Tom says that Essa Rios is a tremendous high flyer in the ring, and Essa took Lita under his wing. Lita says that he was very encouraging, and he was open to any ideas. Lita says that whenever she asks him something, he says that it's easy and shows her.
Kevin asks Lita that wanted to get involved in wrestling because she was a fan of the Lucha Libre style? Lita says yes, and that she never really understood wrestling until she got into the Lucha Libre, and she some some Luchadore on WCW and she started getting into the storylines as well. Lita says that she didn't know anything about schools or Indy wrestling, and she got a ticket to Mexico and checked out some wrestling. Lita eventually started doing some valet business in Mexico, and she actually got to work with Val Venis. Lita says that she ended up with some American Journalists in Mexico, and they had nothing but horror stories about Mexico.
Lita says that it's very surreal that she's involved in wrestling today. Kevin says that he knows some American audiences got their first taste of Lita in ECW. Kevin says that once she decided to move the WWF from ECW, it was tough. The Hardy Boyz were the saviors the other week on WWF Smackdown!, and she did some training with the Hardys as well. Lita says that they have been very influential in her career, and when she was in Mexico, she had a crash course as well as in Chicago. She had an Indy connection with the NWA in North Carolina, and she met the Hardy Boyz, and they invited her to come to their ring to train.
Tom goes over an email, and it asks the origin of the tattoo on her shoulder. Lita says that she decided to go travel in Europe for about 6 weeks or so, and she picked up a souvenir on her arm. It doesn't mean anything, it's just a dragon on her shoulder. Tom says that Kevin is going to Memphis, and maybe he should get a tattoo. Kevin says that they have a ton of calls, and they go to line 1, and Lita remembers the caller about an email. The caller asks what it was like to work in ECW. Lita says she had a good time there, and she learned so much in the short time that she was there. It was really tough, and she was extremely hungry and poor.
It was real rough financially, and everyone there is real cool. It was a little scary at times, but all in all, it was cool. They go to another caller, and the caller says that Lita is the greatest wrestler ever. The caller asks Lita if she likes ECW or the WWF better. Lita says that she likes it here in the WWF, and it's a dream come true. ECW was a great experience, and it's really good for people to graduate to move on to the next level. Lita says that she would have to say that she likes the World Wrestling Federation better. Kevin asks Lita what it was like working with Chyna, and she says that it was cool.
Lita says that the writers told her that the next step would to be a do a program with Essa, and she kind of blew that off, and they went on to do a little program with Chyna. Lita says that she was amazing to work with, and she doesn't know Chyna that well, but it's like having a big sister. Kevin goes over an email, and it asks: "Are you single?" Lita says "Absolutely", and then she says that she wouldn't have it any other way right now. Kevin asks Lita how she has been handling the fame. Lita says that it didn't really start until the angle with Chyna, and it really started to fire up that week.
She likes to interact with people. Last night, someone knocked on her door, and there were 20 kids asking for autographs. Lita says that was okay, but that was a little bit much, and this morning as she was leaving, there was so many kids out there. Kevin gives Lita some advice, and that's to set up a table and make some money taking pictures with kids. Kevin asks Lita what she does to get away from everything when she's away from the WWF. Lita says that she doesn't like to be away from everything. She hates it, and she watches tapes all week long and pretends that she's on the road.
Kevin asks Lita what type of student she was in high school. Lita says her whole goal in high school was to not be stupid and drop out, and she got through it, and she graduated like 6 months early. By the time the actual graduation came along, she was in college. Before she was with the WWF and wrestling, she was with bands, and she was a band manager. She was still on the road. Kevin talks to Tom about Lita, and her name comes up when the future of women in wrestling comes up in a conversation. It's obvious that Lita has been a great influence in the locker room.
Kevin asks Lita about the view of women in wrestling. Lita says that she remembers the Armageddon pay per view, and that was when Miss Kitty took her top off, and she said that was all right, because it was what the people want to see. It put a twist to it. Lita says it's cool right now that they are entertaining both with the cat fights and then something they haven't seen. Once the fans see something that they haven't seen, they think it's pretty cool. Tom says that people don't know what they want to see until they see it a lot of the time. Kevin says that Lita is giving people something new to see in a woman.
As far as the high flying and high risk moves that Lita has done, it's very impressive. They go back to the phones, and they go to line 3 and talk to John. John asks Lita how she feels about the Hardy Boyz. Lita says that they have some big things ahead for her and the Hardy Boyz, and the possibilities are limitless. The three of them are constantly trying to put together some ideas, and they are going to be doing some stuff together, and she is really looking forward to it.
Kevin asks Lita who else Lita looks up to in the locker room. Lita says to see everyone work so hard back there, everyone just pushes themselves so hard to give 100%, and Hunter definitely sticks out. It's so crisp and so clean and it's extremely professional. Kevin asks Lita what she does on a plane, and Lita says that if she's not sleeping, she has her note book out and she's writing down spots and angles for wrestling. Kevin says that Lita is obsessed with wrestling. Kevin jokes about trying to fly the plane.
They go to a caller named Danielle, and she says that Lita is her idol, and she asks for tips. Lita says that you have to find out what is in you, because people are going to test you and make you want to quit. You have to stay focused and don't look back and continue to try to progress. Danielle says that she is 15, and Kevin tells her to stay in school and then train to become a wrestler. Lita says that she went to college to be a teacher, and she wound up in wrestling, but she is glad that what she went to college for is in her back pocket.
They go to line 3, and it's Joe. Joe says that he likes Lita's tattoo, and he says that Lita has a tattoo on the back of her neck, and he asks what that means. Lita says that it is Russian, and it says rebel, and she got it the day that she turned 18 and was able to get a tattoo. Lita says that she'll be watching WWF Smackdown! tonight, and Kevin asks her if she watches herself with a critical eye, and she says that she does and she rewinds and rewinds a number of times.
Kevin says that one of the main challenges with his job in the
WWF is his duties on Metal. Kevin tells B.C. to put himself on,
and Kevin says that Byte This! has been around since 1997. It was
like the beginnings of being able to do live audio/video on the
Internet. Tom asks Kevin about who did Byte This!, and Kevin says
that he was on Byte This! from the start with others. Kevin and
Tom talk about the history of Byte This! and then Kevin plugs
www.kingofthering.com, and you can check out everything related
to the upcoming pay per view. Tom mentions that Trish Stratus
will be on Byte This! next week, and the week after that will be
Triple H.
