Hogatha Hogatha is almost a female version of Gargamel. In the cartoon episode, THE FAKE Smurf, The smurfs gain her enmity when they accidentally find a magic locket that belongs to her and is the source of her power. She teams up with Gargamel to get it back but the smurfs destroy it and her with it.  Surprisingly. Hogatha returns later revealing that the smurfs had only taken one of her nine lives. Vowing revenge against them, she casts a spell on herself that turns her into a smurf so she could infiltrate their village. She calls herself "SNORTY" due to her snort in her speech. The smurfs eventually discovered her identity as the " snort" speech impediment was a regular characteristic of Hogatha. wikipedia.org

There are many types of Fake smurfs, some are original molds, not based on original figures which were made by individuals trying to cash in on the large Smurf market, also hand painted and in various shades of colors as they seemed to run out of  the same colors,others were mass produced by crooks that copied licenced smurfs but didn;t have the quality control or the licence info on the smurf. Some are attempts at copying rare original smurfs, and some are just creative homemades. In 1996  4,000 counterfeit Smurfs were seized in Brussels, and at a factory in China producing unlicensed versions of Smurfs that flooded the market. Again in Brussels another thousands of counterfeit smurfs were seized with counterfeit Snow White figures and knockoffs of the Seven Dwarfs. These were on route from China to France. Many  fake smurfs flooded the market that were not seized as far back as the 1980's and now.. I collect  the fake smurfs that were made from individual molds or by small counterfeiters as I find them whimsical and very rare. I was collecting  them mostly as its more of a challange as they are not easy to find and there really was no large collection of them at the time I started. I have discovered many new varieties, from Europe, Spain, Latin America and China. I have also collected very rare licenced smurfs and factory mis paints, as well as limited produced odd items. I have several thousands of smurfs in my collection which I would love to try to fit on  a single website one day.
