I am "Anonymous", the writer of the "FTM Diary of a Sex Change" published in the Boston Phoenix's One in Ten Supplement--Special Transgender Issue, in November of 1997.

In 2001, I discovered my FTM Diary was available on the web on a few sites, including the Moss-Fritch site. We now share reciprocal links [11/12/03].

When I stumbled on that piece, I emailed them an update and a bit about the background--origins of that piece.

The FTM Diary of 1997 was edited down from a huge pile of journal entries that spanned two years. I had kept a journal on and off for most of my life, and especially during the early days of my transition. All but the last entry for that piece was written only for myself--like a regualr journal. I had no intention of anyone ever reading any of it--but when a friend of mine, the One-in-Ten editor, contacted me about a piece for an upcoming "transgender" issue, the diary idea seemed to be the most compelling. The last entry was written specifically for that piece.

Between the original 1997 publication in the Boston Phoenix, and the moss-fritch web site, more than 100K people have read the FTM Diary. That's alittle daunting, but affirming too.

Since then, I've been thinking about publishing more of my journal, but haven't--until now. This electronic version of my journal begins in the fall of 2003 and includes unedited journal entries.
