Jack was so relieved that someone had finally noticed him he was almost hesitant to correct the man’s case of mistaken identity. “I’m Jack,” he admitted. “Jack Paris,” and presented the scruffy stranger with a business card. “I’m, uh, I’m kind of lost.”

“Jack,” sighed Ebreth, quickening his gait to catch up with the smaller man. “Looks like we’re in trouble again. What else is new, right?”
Jack Yearlate looked at him in startlement. “I--what?”
“It’s a long story. What are you doing in here, anyway?”
“I had to come,” the carpenter said, confusion in his voice. “My friend... I’ve got to find...” His voice trailed off, uncertainly.
The two men looked at each other for a very long minute.
“Jack?” said Ebreth, low and amazed.
“Ebreth,” he placed suddenly, his brow furrowing with the effort.
