As the current president of the Milwaukee Chapter of American Sewing Guild, welcome to our Website. It is our hope that you find what you read here interesting enough to take the opportunity to attend one of our Neighborhood Group Meetings to discover for yourself what we are all about.
ASG is made up of women of all ages and aspects in life, that come together with one common denominator – the Love of Sewing. This love can be for garment making, quilting, home dec., tailoring, etc. From beginners just learning to sew and needing some mentoring to those who are designers and teachers.
The Guild is set up around Neighborhood Group meetings. For Milwaukee, we hold them once a month at various times and locations – the website provides details on where and when. These meetings are the core to ASG, this is where we share ideas, ask for help, and sometimes just to get together with people who have the same interest.
In addition to the Neighborhood Group Meetings, we hold several special events each year. They range from Saturday workshops, seminars by nationally known sewing educators, bus trips to museums or fabric stores, to name a few. September, we hold our annual Luncheon and Fashion Show open to the public where members get to show off their creations.
Meet new friends – learn new skills & techniques – and get a discount on your sewing supplies! Is there another organization that can do that?
The “sewing circle” is a concept hundreds of years old – the American Sewing Guild is dedicated to keeping that circle growing! Please visit one of our Neighborhood Group meetings soon and discover for yourself this wonderful group of women and the camaraderie of other sewers.
