Cub Scout Day Camp 2008

New!THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF THE DIFFERENT CUB SCOUT RANKS AND WHAT THEY EARNED DURING THE WEEK OF DAY CAMP.

TIGER SCOUTS:

The lists of requirements earned by the Tigers at Day Camp have been already been given to the parents of the Tiger Scouts. The Tigers that attended Day Camp also have earned the Belt Loop and Pins that are listed below.

WOLF SCOUTS:

YOUR FLAG
  • Give the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Tell what it means.
  • Lead a flag ceremony in your den.
  • Tell how to respect and take care of the U.S. flag. Show three ways to display the flag.
  • Learn about the flag of your state or territory and how to display it.
  • Learn how to raise a U.S. flag properly for an outdoor ceremony
  • Participate in an outdoor flag ceremony.
  • With the help of another person, fold the U.S. flag.

    COOKING AND EATING

  • With an adult, help to plan, prepare, and cook an outdoor meal.

    PLAY A GAME

  • Play Ring Toss.
  • Play Beanbag Toss.
  • Play a wide-area or large group game with your den or pack.

    YOUR LIVING WORLD

  • Land, air and water can get dirty. Discuss with your family ways this can happen.
  • It takes a lot of energy to make glass, cans, and paper products.
  • You can help save energy by collecting these items for use again.
  • Find out how recycling is done where you live. Find out what items you can recycle.
  • With an adult, pick up litter in your neighborhood. Wear gloves to protect your hands against germs and cuts from sharp objects.

    SING-ALONG

  • Learn and sing the first and last verses of "America."
  • Learn and sing the first verse of our national anthem.
  • Learn the words and sing three Cub Scout songs.
  • Sing a song with your den at a pack meeting.

    BE AN ARTIST

  • Make a freehand sketch of a person place, or thing.
  • Tell a story in three steps by drawing three cartoons.
  • Mix yellow and blue paints, mix yellow and red, and mix red and blue.
  • Tell what color you get from each mixture.
  • Help draw, paint, or color some scenery for a skit, play, or puppet show.
  • Make a stencil pattern.
  • Make a poster for a Cub Scout project or a pack meeting.

    SPORTS

  • Play a game of tennis, table tennis, or badminton.
  • Earn the Cub Scouting shooting sports Archery belt loop.
  • Earn the Cub Scouting shooting sports BB-gun shooting belt loop.
  • With your den, participate in four outdoor physical fitness-related activities.

    LET'S GO CAMPING

  • Explain the basics of how to take care of yourself in the outdoors.
  • Tell what to do if you get lost.
  • Explain the buddy system.
  • Attend day camp in your area.
  • Explain the basics of how to take care of yourself in the outdoors.

    BEAR SCOUTS:

    WHAT MAKES AMERICA SPECIAL?

  • Be a member of the color guard in a flag ceremony for your den or pack.
  • Display the U.S. flag in your home or fly it on three national holidays..
  • Learn how to raise and lower a U.S. flag properly for an outdoor ceremony.
  • Participate in an outdoor flag ceremony.

    TAKE CARE OF YOUR PLANET

  • Call city or county officials or your trash hauling company and find out what happens to your trash after it is hauled away.
  • Take part in a den or pack neighborhood clean-up project.

    WHAT'S COOKING?

  • With an adult, make snacks.
  • Make some trail food for a hike.
  • With an adult, make a dessert
  • With an adult, cook something outdoors.

    GAMES, GAMES, GAMES!

  • Set up the equipment and play any two of these outdoor games with your family or friends.(Backyard golf, Badminton, Croquet, Sidewalk shuffleboard, Kickball, Softball, Tetherball, Horseshoes, Volleyball)
  • Play two organized games.
  • Select a game that your den has never played. Explain the rules.

  • Learn the rules of and how to play three team sports.
  • Learn the rules of and how to play two sports in which only one
  • person is on each side.
  • Take part in one team and one individual sport.

    Webelos Activity Badge Requirements Completd at Day Camp

    Day Camp Logo The 2008 Cub Scout Day Camp theme for the Greater Alabama Council will be “Dino Safari” based on the Scouts learning about dinosaurs and archeology.

    Only $60 for a week of fun and aventure! Includes t-shirt, water bittle, patch, and program supplies.

    TDay Camp will be the second week of June (9th-13th) located again out at Point Mallard behind the Spirit of America stage. Day Camp meets every day from 8 am to 3 pm. The fee for the week again will be $60 for one scout to attend (if registered before May 16th). If a scout has an adult helping work the ENTIRE week the fee for the Scout is $30 with a $12.00 fee to the adult for their staff shirt and fees.

    Registration

    There is a new addition to the registration process this year and it is important that this information gets out to everyone in your unit. This year the Council is enacting a late registration fee of $25 to any registrations turned in after May 16th. So it is very important that any Scouts planning on attending Day Camp need to have their registration fee paid before May 16th.

    Additional Information

  • Registration will be accepted after May 16, 2008. However, there will be an additional cost of $25.
  • Boys need to bring their own lunch and a drink each day except for Thursday. There will be camp wide picnic that day so they will only need a drink.
  • Boys need to wear their camp t-shirt each day (clean or dirty).
  • All boys need to wear closed toe shoes.
  • Water and snacks will be provided each day.
  • There will be a nurse on staff. If your child has any medications, they need to be given to the nurse each day.
  • Boys will be placed in dens by the grade they just completed in school. (Tigers now will be Wolves at day camp) Any Tiger Cub, (boy has just completed kindergarten) will require an adult to be with him at all times during the week.
  • Camp is open to boys who are not currently registered Cub Scouts. There will be an additional $10 fee for those boys wishing to attend day camp.
  • Parent volunteers are needed!!!!! If you can help the entire week, the cost of day camp is $42. ($30 for cub and $12 for staff t-shirt) If one adult is present for a scout all week, you will receive the discount.If you can only work part of the week, the cost is $60.
