After the substantial reconstruction and renovation of a badly earthquake-damaged hospital, " ArBeS " Health Care Centre now provides primary health care and houses medical offices for pediatric, dental, psychological, physiotherapeutic consultation as well as teaching rooms. The extensive renovation was financed primarily by " Arabkir " United Children's Charity Foundation, SOS-Armenia-Belgium, Radio Munot Schaffhouse - Help for Armenia, Swiss government (DDC) and Andorra's Ministry of Health, and cost approximately US$ 600'000. The new building was inaugurated in April 1999.
The objective of the new centre is the normal development of children through the improvement of primary health care and prevention in Armenia. The idea is that a healthy child grows up in a healthy family. That's why treatments as well as educational programs are proposed to patients and families. " ArBeS " Health Care Center provides children with regular examine and treatment by specialists trained to care for every disease (diabetes, autism, dental cavities, muscular problems, deformities). It also makes available a psychological and social help, logotherapy, physiotherapy and workshops for the disabled. Further medical training given by specialists from all over the world are also organized for Armenian physicians, parents and patients.
These programs are destined to benefit approximately 2500 children per year living in Yerevan and its suburbs. Children of families in socially bad condition are treated free of charge. " ArBeS " Health Care Centre employs 35 persons.
