There is no such thing as a willing porn subject. How can you help?
|
AID
is a private,
not-for-profit committee dedicated to protecting
adults from the dangers of porn and bureaucratic abuse or endangerment. What are the greatest
dangers adults face today? Spousal abuse, pornography, sexual slavery, slave labor,
violence from criminals, and accidents.
REPORT ADULT PORN: Have you ever
received an email invite to an adult porn site? If so, don't visit it.
Open another internet window and type
www.obscenitycrimes.org in the address line and click on the "Report" link.
Return to your email window and do CNTL +C to copy and CNTL +V to paste the URL
(website address) into the report form at Obscenity Crimes. Save
the Obscenity Crimes report page as one of your favorites so you can access it
more quickly in the future.
Why is porn so harmful to victims or subjects?
Because there is no such thing as a willing porn subject. All victims do
it either for drugs, because they are drunk, they were forced at gunpoint, or
because they need the money. All of them regret it, whether immediately
or later. Some are beaten and raped. Some subjects have been so
badly used that they cannot bear human contact for the rest of their lives.
Why is porn so harmful to viewers? Because
it is highly addictive. A former cocaine addict says it was harder to
break a porn habit than a cocaine habit. Viewers begin to view women as
objects instead of people. They treat their wives and female coworkers
poorly and have cavalier attitudes about rape and child molestation. They
tend to degrade and discriminate against women rather than protect and honor
them. Communities that have a high percentage of viewers have higher rates
of spouse abuse, rape, incest, date rape, unmarried pregnancy (which means
fatherless children), and sexually transmitted diseases. This addiction
can cause job loss, divorce, depression, and loss of self-respect.
Inevitably the ones who suffer most are the children of broken families.

What has
A.I.D.
accomplished?
It has raised awareness of the damage that exploitation of women can
cause:
- Turned in hundreds of adult porn site invitations to the Justice
Department,
- Lobbied grocery and convenience stores to stop displaying soft porn in
public view, and where children can see it.
- Lobbied magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Fitness, Womens Health,
Cosmopolitan, Natural Health and more to stop portraying women on their covers
in revealing poses.
- Wrote to Victorias Secret and many other clothing catalogues and asked
them to stop portraying women in revealing poses.
- Lobbied Yahoo, MSN, Hotmail, Earthlink, and others to stop forcing ads
upon email customers that show women in revealing poses.
- Asked numerous news channels to stop showing women in revealing poses
in swimsuits and evening gowns just to increase ratings.
- Asked clothing companies to design clothing that is modest, yet
beautiful, and to stop selling clothing with low-cut blouses or short-short
skirts.
You can help by writing letters to stores where you shop and to your
government representatives and ask them to help stop the exploitation of
women.
