Like many of you out there I am a New Zealander who chooses to smoke.  It is our freedom of choice whether we smoke or not.  However, the  way our country is progressing it may not be our freedom of choice for much longer.  This is why this web site has been established - to allow New Zealanders who disagree with the Smoke Free Environments Amendment Act about to be implemented on December 10 to speak out.  This is a chance for all of you who disagree with what our government is doing to unite with us and express opinions which will allow the government and anti-smokers to see that the rest of New Zealand does have an opinion on this issue.  I know that there is nothing we can actively do about this 'Act' being implemented but the least we can do is stand our ground and show the rest of New Zealand we will not take this issue lying down.  We have freedom of speech in this country of ours and I (and hopefully all of you out there who agree) intend to use it.  So I urge you, after viewing this site, to sign the guestbook and share your opinion - even if you disagree...

This site is for those New Zealanders who disagree with the Smoke Free Environments Amendment Act because:

It is taking away the Smokers individual rights and freedom of choice

Smokers should not have to smoke outside but rather have allocated rooms for smoking

Smokers should not be forced to quit smoking but rather make their own decisions regarding smoking

Businesses should be entitled to freedom of choice of whether they allow patrons to smoke on their premises or not

If you agree please sign our guestbook

CALLING ALL NEW ZEALANDERS WHO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM OF CHOICE

I have personally dubbed Peter Dunne (Leader of United Future) as the smoker's and business person's saviour.  Why?  Because he is a politican who is capable of reason and one who actually believes in freedom of choice for ALL of the people in New Zealand including those who choose to smoke.

Peter Dunne has proposed a new Act called the Smokefree Environments (Air Quality Standards) Amendment Act.  He wants this to overide our recently implemented Smokefree Environments Amendment Act (which isn't moving along too successfully from what I have witnessed).  This new Act allows for people to smoke  indoors in places such as bars, casinos, workplaces etc. on the provision the indoor location meets the Air Quality Standards set,  insuring no harm is caused by second-hand smoke. It also allows the individual business owners to make the decision of whether they wish to remain a smokefree location or not.  This is only a brief explanation of the Act but what it boils down to is that people will be allowed to smoke indoors ( in allocated rooms and rooms with ventilation) but non smokers will not be at risk from second-hand smoke due to the careful monitoring or Air Quality..   Sounds more reasonable and fair to all of us doesn't it?

So I'm calling for all of you who signed my previous petition, and all of you who agree that this new Act would be a more equally fair solution to the problem of second-hand smoke, to sign the following guestbook.

We, as New Zealanders, MUST back Peter Dunne in his efforts with the new Act.  This Act will re-establish our freedom of choice and allow people to recognise that smokers CAN smoke inside without our smoke having a detrimental effect on non smokers health.  This Act will cater to every individuals needs and allow each person to their freedom of choice whether it be smoker or non smoker.

You may not care about the Smokefree Act - it may not effect you. But if we     keep allowing our Government to take away our Freedom of Choice then one day you will be effected.  Now's the time to stand up and say 'no more'.
