| This site has been made to honor and remember our mother. She passed away from breast cancer on September 6, 1996. Throughout this site you will find things about our mother, who she was, what she stood for, and the lives that she touched. (Melissa and Geoff) Well here I guess is where I start... Mom found out she had breast cancer in October of 1994. She was told that it was not that bad and to continue to take her scheduled vacation to Florida the following week, and when she got back they would discuss treatment. Ok, so back to the story. I believe it was the end of October or beginning of November when mom had her surgery to remove the tumor and remove a few of her lymph nodes. Things seemed to be going great for her for the next year and three months or so. So, now we are up to the end of January or beginning of February of 1996. This is when mom found out that once again her cancer was back and this time it was at the stem of her brain. After once again going through surgery and chemo and radiation, she seemed to be making great progress. Things were looking pretty good for her. She was regaining her balance and walking with a cane and without her walker. Mom was finally feeling that she was getting her life back in order. Well that all came to an end, On July 12, 1996 mom was once again told her cancer was back. This time it was on her spine. She was told that she had anywhere from six weeks to a year. After careful consideration she decided to go with chemo and radiation again to give her that year with all of us. That did not help.... it was about seven weeks after the last diagnosis, September 6, 1996, that mom passed away, but not before learning that she was gonna be a grandma again for the second time. I can say that she fought with all she had at the end... trying to not let Elyssa, her granddaughter, down. She was being strong for the rest of us too, but Elyssa was just about everything to her. ~*~*~*~*~*~If MOM was here right now, She would be so proud of what this family has become. Geoff has finished college and is now part owner in a company. Melissa is a stay at home mom of three, soon to be four, and does a good job at it. .~*~*~*~*~*~*~ |
